Deputy Director-General of Thailand’s Disease Control Department, Dr. Sophon Iamsirithavorn, said today that many neighbouring countries are seeing a large increase in new COVID-19 infections. Malaysia recently reported 4,029 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 155,095, while Myanmar found 491 new cases, raising their total to 133,569.

Thailand intensifies border controls

So has Cambodia and its border with Thailand and the reason - quote from Cambodian news media:-

 January 17, 2021

Cambodia’s migrant workers COVID-19 cluster numbers climb to 69, tally now hits 439

As more Cambodian migrant workers flee Thailand where deaths and number of cases has been mounting, three more workers returning from Thailand have been tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday.

(All returning migrants go into State quarantine and referral  hospitals where necessary)
