webfact
More than 100 foreigners and Thais arrested at party on Koh Phangan Picture: Manager Online More than 100 people are in custody after police raided a party at a bar on Koh Phangan early on Wednesday morning. Officers from Surat Thani police and immigration raided the Three Sixty Bar at around 2am following a tip off that a party was being held despite the ban on gatherings and alcohol sales. Police said more than 200 hundred tourists were in attendance, but almost half fled once officers arrived. In total 110 people were arrested including 89 foreigners. A 40 year old Thai man who police said is the owner of the bar and the organiser of the party was also arrested. Those arrested face hefty fines and possible jail terms for being in violation of the restrictive measures put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Aeiou7
Regarding trial, latest news on Koh Phangan (learned from a friend who's partner got arrested) is that a judge from Koh Samui will come over tomorrow. The previous plan was that all arrested people would need to go to court to Koh Samui tomorrow. Rumors said that they were already on the way or already there but these were probably just rumors, as always...

Popular Post Nout
Mercifully or otherwise this is a nail in the coffin for the whole druggie/hippie/nomad/ type FMP crowd. I understood it as that the arrested people would have needed to go to Koh Samui tomorrow for a trial and fine payment, but this is already outdated now because after a change of plans a judge from there will apparently come to Koh Phangan tomorrow, possibly for "fine collection" and such. A repellent bunch of entitled travellers. I agree with "nail in the coffin" but you got the present crowd wrong. No more massive FMP since last March, almost no more hippies since Thailand closed the borders and cheap Charlies can't afford ASQ. Digital nomads are indeed here and came from different places in Thailand like Chiang Mai and Bangkok over the last 10 months or so. The island demographics have changed a lot, for the better. 3

Popular Post thai dweller
Half of the people were arrested for being there not for the party, but for the art market which was happening at the same location. The new immigration chief wants to kill the local businesses completely. And yes, arrest happened closer to 9pm, so either the news outlets are misreporting or the police department is trying to cover up it's misdoings. Techno and other EDM parties are popular, hip hop and rap not really. But there is also nice rock and reggae performed live, sometimes even classical music, it's a relatively free world and tastes are different.

Nice little earner that one, no chance that anyone on a tourist visa will get their bail money returned before their visa expires. Captain Fishmonger will be pleased, Amazingly, Thais were able to get away and foreigners got caught. Now the big fishing rod will be waved at filthy falangs. I wonder which mafiosi family owned the bar and what they will be fined, sorry paid.
