Genuine question,, you have a link for this important information?

Seems a lot of stuff gets posted and repeated until it becomes fact.

if you click on the site of the world health organisation here

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIrpGTxKPJ7gIVQzUrCh3qBQeMEAAYASAAEgJZcfD_BwE

supposed to be the highest authority in the fight against Covid 19

in the question\answer about the vaccines and how it works you can find this:

''Scientists around the world are developing many potential vaccines for COVID-19. These vaccines are all designed to teach the body’s immune system to safely recognize and block the virus that causes COVID-19.''

That means that even being vaccinated, you can still catch the virus, however your immune system, well prepared by the vaccine injected in your body, is supposed to block the development of the virus in your body and keeps you from getting sick

On the same site you can also find this:

'' Will covid 19 vaccines provide long term protection?

It’s too early to know if COVID-19 vaccines will provide long-term protection. Additional research is needed to answer this question. However, it’s encouraging that available data suggest that most people who recover from COVID-19 develop an immune response that provides at least some period of protection against reinfection – although we’re still learning how strong this protection is, and how long it lasts.

Most COVID-19 vaccines being tested or reviewed now are using two dose regimens.''

Of course with more time more informations will come about the efficacity of these vaccines but for now it's still a work in progress, with a lot of questions but very few answers

This may well be the beginning of the end but there is helluva way to go yet.

As other have pointed out, even those who are vaccinated could, we don't know yet, catch it and then transmit it to the non vaccinated.

Then of course there are the mutations. The whole world is in a race to vaccinate ahead of the damn virus mutating.

So until the whole world, or at least a significant portion of the world is vaccinated, none of are are safe until all of us are safe.

In truth I feel the best way would have been for all countries to lock down international travel and just focus on getting all of their domestic population vaccinated.

As for domestic lockdowns, somewhat skeptical on how effective they are

It's a race between companies and people going broke and hungry in one lane, and the vaccine rolling out in the next lane.

Sadly, my money would be on broke and hungry.

And that's not just Thailand.  But Thailand is hit especially hard because of international tourism's role in feeding so many Thai people.

Thanks for this info. I guess the bottom line is it's a work in progress. What country with mass tourism is going to go first? Thailand is more reliant than anybody else on tourism ( maybe) and are gonna roll the dice because there is no choice unless they want to vaccinate everyone here but that will take all year and eat into high season again. That won't happen IMO

You are welcome.

imo the problem at the moment for Thailand is double

1\ being one of the country in the world having the less of cases

Thailand is not in the priority queue for having vaccines delivered in big numbers

by the foreign companies manufacturing the vaccine, hence the idea

for Thailand to have the license and to manufacture his own vaccine

but this process take a lot of time.

2\ Although Thailand is a police state run by a military junta

it's not a dictatorship nord korean style, and the authorities pay attention

to the public opinion, national and international. Prayut and his goverment

know they are already among the most hated in all Thailand's history

then they think their Covid crisis managment is for them an historic chance to gain a reputation as the protector for the Thais people and for Thailand

hence the particularly cautious approach, ultra protective and conservative

Coronavirus: We need to rethink the design of the temperature gun — Quartz

LOL, yesterday I drove to play golf at Happy City, 7 am with the car window open. Checked by the gate security, meter temperature on my forehead was 31.8 C. Obviously, I'm one cool cat.

Vaccines boost the immune system so that the virus does not replicate, or the illness is much less severe. There is no evidence to suggest vaccines stop a vaccinated person from spreading coronavirus to other people.

Unless you regard the New York Times as fake news, here is their take on the situation.
