BANGKOK, Feb 8 (TNA) – COVID-19 infection in the cluster of a female pork vendor from Ampawa district of Samut Songkhram has covered at least 87 people, according to the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Announcing the new COVID-19 cluster, CCSA assistant spokesperson Apisamai Srirangson said the female vendor was a native of Ampawa. She sourced pork from Ratchaburi province for sale at the Mae Klong Railway Market in Samut Sakhon province.

CCSA deputy spokesperson, Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan

A pork vendor, living in the Ampawa district of Samut Sakhon, has been blamed for the cluster infection of at least 87 people, scattered in and around Bangkok, Samut Sakhon, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi and Suphan Buri provinces, said CCSA deputy spokesperson Dr. Apisamai Srirangsan on Monday.

During her daily briefing on COVID-19 situation in Thailand, she said that the female pork vendor has a stall at the Rodfai market in Samut Sakhon’s provincial town, but she travels to Potharam district of Ratchaburi every morning to collect meat from a wholesaler.

While shuttling back and forth between Ampawa and Potharam on daily basis, she was in contact with a number of people in the market, communities and from several provinces, she added.

So now a new lockdown and wrapping of a province in Barbed wire is needed, yet if your Thai, no problems you can travel through, but if your a migrant worker your locked in your factory or dormitory housing.  Go figure, and no it is not fake news....

Next will be all migrant housemaids to be locked in, as they may be potential super spreaders.

Amphawa is in Samut Songkram, not Samut Sakhon.  The reporting is a bit confused on this one.

If I understand correctly, she lives in Ampawa (which is indeed in Samut Songkram), and her shop/stall is at Samut Sakhon.

Told this to Mrs. Morch over breakfast, a bit later MiL calls to say she's at the Photharam market shopping for the Chinese New Year thing....

It says "She sourced pork from Ratchaburi province for sale at the Mae Klong Railway Market in Samut Sakhon province."  But that market is in Samut Songkram.  The Mae Klong river runs from Kanchanaburi, through Ratchaburi, and down through Samut Songkram to the ocean.

well there is sort of macro sized excuse for a marketplace at the Samut Sakorn end of the MK Railway. Maybe she does her pork collection trip via that train trip?

Ok, fair enough, not all that familiar with markets on that side. Could there be more than one having a similar name?
