The governor of Rayong, Channa Iamsaeng announced good news regarding the pandemic for people in the eastern Thai province, home to many expats.

After hearing that there had been no new cases of Covid for nine days the governor has taken the step of lifting most restrictions on a large number of businesses.

Effective immediately pubs, restaurants, bars, karaoke and ab ob nuat (soapy massage) will be able to open until 11 pm.

The order also applies to traditional massage, spas, swimming pools, tattooists and fitness centers and permits parties and seminars to be held subject to a limit of 300 people.

There was no change to the 580 cases of Covid in the province only nine of which are still undergoing treatment.

One area that is not yet allowed to open is cock-fighting and cock fighting arenas.

The governor said the relaxing of restrictions was good news but he warned against people dropping their guard.
