Botox/anti Wrinkle Treatments

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone here has any positive experience of Botox services in Bangkok? I must admit I dont understand a lot about this kind of thing, as you probably can guess, but I ask as already a year in Thailand has played havoc on my skin, the heat, sun, cheap beer and not sleeping too well with the heat here, has, in effect, made me look 5 years older than I really should look! I would love to hear any advice from the ladies here with regard to Botox and whether it should be done or not. Thanks in advance for your advice, much appreciated.

KD :o

Botox is extremely popular but from your limited decription of what your trying to achieve, I think Botox will be the best choice for you. I think for people who have furrows due to muscle contraction that is unattractive (particularly on the forehead) it works great (but only for a few months). For sun damage and lax skin, it will not be helpful at all.

I am male, but I have some close friends who are physicians who do "Med-Spa" treatments including Botox. So I did it once for fun. It did remove one wrinkle on my forehead that I had because of my habit of raising my eyebrows. But i have to practice not wrinkling up my forehead because it is coming back :D

Maybe you won't need anything if you treat yourself more kindly with more sun block, relaxation and a bit less beer. :o Good luck.

I've been doing Botox regularly for years now and swear by it . Takes years off your face. I have also had filler into 2 lines that were too deep for Botox to erase. Botox is costly; it depends on how much they use (the cost is mostly for the drug), with only a slight varaition from place to place; I pay about 16,000 baht each time having it done at Apex Clinic by Dr. Nat; Apex is pricier than some but with Botox the difference will be small.

The other thing I do periodically is called IPL, it is a mild sort of laser treatment that removes splotches and sun damage. No down time and not very expensive. I have had it done at 4 different locations to date and all were OK; unlike Botox the cost does vary a bit. Last place I went to was 2,000 baht one time or a package of 5 for 8,000. The 5 times can be 5 times in the same place or once in different places e.g. face, arms etc. Usually need 3-5 treatments for maxium effect but you'll see improvement from the very first one.

IPL is great for sun damage and evening out splotchy skin and generally giving a glow, I would suggest that for you for sure and also that you do it first because it will also reduce some fine wrinkles. Then, if after say at least 2 IPL treatments you still have wrinkles you want gone, Botox. I suggest the Botox second as it is more costly and by doing the IPL first you may reduce the amount of Botox needed.

The Botox lasts 3-6 months. The IPL usually good for at least a year unless you you screw up your skin by too much sun again.

Some people have deep wrinkles/furrows that Botox can't remove. If after Botox you still have some, can consider a filler. Costly (10,000 - 20,000 Baht I think but don't recall exactly) but lasts 2 years or so.

Enjoy!!!

wow - Sheryl, thanks for sharing that info. Can you recommend anywhere specifically in Bkk for IPL? Mine is mostly sun damage with wrinkles around my eyes so IPL seems like a goer... Cheers

There are tons of clinics all over the place doing it as do all the major hospitals. It is not rocket science to do, but I think it is worth having it done by an actual doctor (some of the places that do big volume use technians they have trained themselves...and sometimes the one yuou get may have only just been trained). Basically it is a matter of the person doing it being attentive to how your skin is responding, starting off at a low intensity and then increasing it with each session as tolerated.

I have had it done at Apex, at Dr. Prapainalin's clinic which is on the 3rd floor at the at Major Cineplex on Ratchada (near Lard Prao), and most recently I have been going to the Derm Clinic at Central Pinklao, been quite happy with it and the price (8,000 baht for 5 treatments) but don't know if that is convenient to where you are. I was also happy with results from Dr. Prapainalin although I seem to recall that it cost more. I was happy enough with results at Apex most of the time but last time I went I had a technician who I think was newly trained and she used too high an intensity, so I stopped going. The doctor there doesn't do her own IPL and there are just too many different technicians in various stages of experience. At Dr. Prapainlin's and also at the clinic at Central Pinklao the doctor does it herself.

After 5 treatments you'll see a lot of difference and then be able to judge if Botox is needed or not.

^ Cheers for that!

Doesn't anyone think wrinkles add character?

ps reminds me of any old joke.

Q. What's the best cure for wrinkles?

A. An erection! :o

Dont know why people bother with these things learn to love yourself as you are.

Are you serious??? Why even post something if you don't have something useful to say to the original poster?

If you don't like Botox, don't GET IT, but don't come here judging others! By the way....why are you EVEN READING a post about Botox if you are so against cosmetic procedures????

To the poster: Go to Bumrungrad and see Dr. Chitralada - not cheap but she is GREAT! Harvard graduate and definitely not a scammer. She is on the conservative side as well, so you won't get injected with things you don't need.

Good luck!!!

The original post is over two years old Californiagirl. Next time, check the date, it will help keep things relevant. :)
