Ais Gprs Via Bluetooth Using Osx

Featured Replies

I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.9 and trying to get a GPRS to my Macbook Pro. The mobile phone settings are fine, but I can't seem to work out the Bluetooth modem settings on my MBP. I've searched around and can't find them online anywhere and the AIS rep seemed clueless. Having messed around with various settings in Bluetooth modem prefs, I have only gotten as far as this:

Mon May 14 07:55:15 2007 : Making GPRS connection

Mon May 14 07:55:24 2007 : Serial connection established.

Mon May 14 07:55:24 2007 : Using interface ppp0

Mon May 14 07:55:24 2007 : Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem

Mon May 14 07:55:25 2007 : Remote message: Congratulations!

Mon May 14 07:55:25 2007 : PAP authentication succeeded

Mon May 14 07:55:25 2007 : Hangup (SIGHUP)

Mon May 14 07:55:25 2007 : Modem hangup

Mon May 14 07:55:25 2007 : Connection terminated.

Is there anyone else who has succeeded? If so, I'd be very grateful if you could post your settings here or send me an IM.

Here's what a successfull session looks like... I'm using ross barkman's scripts for connecting.

I've opined recently that under OSX it -should- be possible to mulitplex both GPRS and USB modem at the same time but of course it's not.

At first it was failing but after repairing it began to work.

What are you putting in for "telephone number" in network preferences?

Many thanks for the replies. Looks like I solved my own problem. If you haven't seen it already, Ross Barkman's GPRS page is excellent:

http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html

I used his Sony-Ericsson bluetooth modem script, and it was all a case of RTFM. If you use his script, you do not enter a dial number in the PPP prefs page. Just leave it blank and it works like a charm.

Thanks again....
