When applying this utility, on any my 3 machines, I find a large gap between the 1st few entries and the remainder of the installed applications, not a big deal but it is a pain in the arse. They’re all running their own OEM Genuine Xp SP2 either Home or Professional with the latest OS and Security Updates. It was always a problem on my older NoteBooks (Both Xp Home) but I was very surprised to see it in my new DeskTop (Xp Professional) as well.

Anyone else seen this problem or know of a fix?

I would say every computer I have with XP on it shows this at some point after installing programs. A solution (free) that works for me can be found here > RemoveWhiteSpace

"small utility that cleans up the registry in those cases where huge gaps of whitespace is displayed in the add/remove programs control panel applet. The gap is caused by a badly formatted "DisplayedIcon" entry in the uninstall area of the registry or a bad icon file."

Thank you for that, worked a treat. The program found and repaired 6 registry errors relating to icons. No more annoying blank space.

One would have thought that after using:- Norton System Works, Crap Cleaner and Tune Up Utilities all my registry errors would have been detected and corrected! Do you know of a program that combines all the attributes of these?

I've had good luck with Advanced Windows Care. Does a better job than Tune Up, and even the free version is quite good.
