I need to buy a new laptop. Over the next few months I will be travelling to Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK (and I live the Thailand). Where is the best place to buy?

Golden Computer Center

Fuk Wa Street

Shamshuipo

Kowloon

Hong Kong

My Laptop is worth 80%, one year later.

Decide on a make/model and then go online and compare prices in

various countries you intend to visit.

There can be surprising price differences, and keep in mind that you can

often get a tax refund at the (various) airports.

For Singapore, Sim Lin IT Mall or Funan Center. Try Funan first, better ambiance.

Naka.

As you live in Thailand I would buy in Thailand, then you have full local service.

If you buy in another country and then get a problem returning under guarantee can be a problem.

If you do buy overseas check on what cover you get in Thailand. :o

Indeed - something will go wrong with your laptop so you will have to find out in advance what the levels of service are.

I have a Mac and an Acer. With Acer, the international warranty is pretty limited - the service in Thailand is great though. With the Apple, it's as good as having it bought here (got it in Singapore). All Apple authorized service centers will service Apple machines bought anywhere.

Acer also give a full years insurance cover, additional to their one year g'tee. So if you have an accident with it, or leave it in a coffee shop, you can get (most) of your money back.
