Chonburi orders all entertainment venues to close

The Communicable Disease Committee of Thailand’s Chonburi province has ordered all entertainment venues to close from tomorrow (Saturday), including cinemas and theatres, to control the spread of COVID-19.

 

All districts of Chonburi have been ordered to prepare field hospitals and local quarantine facilities, as the number of new infections rises.

 

Although many provinces have decided to impose travel restrictions, people who wish to travel to Chonburi can still do so without the need to quarantine.

On the bright side that should boost the business for the massages shops if they are allowed to stay open

 

it's more than needed for most of them, they are actualy dying and so far very few have survived

 

unlike the bars they can not sell online drinks

Unfortunately I think massage shops are included in the closure.  Hope I'm wrong, and it's just soapies.  At least restaurants and hotels are still open and can serve alcohol.

Soapies haven't reopen since 1 year now

 

i don't think massages shops are specificaly included in the government closure order

it will probably be precised soon in the provincial order

It was pretty dead down town Pattaya this evening when I was out eating with the family.

 

Looks like it will be a very quiet Songklan which suits me just fine.

You can move and throw away millions that you (and many others invested). For sure the best option if a local government doesn't care about laws and regulations. In the end it is a red light district and not a home for retirement - you are right.

 I remember many moons ago, in my country they build a race circuit in the middle of a green area, because there it would cause the least noise disturbance, as there were no houses within a few kilometers radius.

 

Next the well off started  develop the area around the circuit to build luxury villa's, and of course one of the attraction points in the brochure to lure buyers was the vicinity of the circuit.

 

When it was fully developed those villa owners started petitions to remove the circuit because of the noise.

To cut a long story short - don't invest where laws or governments don't protect you. I lost about 5 millions and some years (perhaps my last) I wanted to enjoy - it is very bad but since it wasn't my last money it luckily will not kill me. But it was for sure the worst decision I made in my life to buy property in Central Pattaya. I didn't expect that it will be one of the biggest open air red light districts in the world and continue to grow and grow. And I have been here almost 30 years. I am an idiot - for sure.

I'm sure you've had multiple chances to sell without too much loss, among those 30 years when times were better. But you didn't, why?

It is very easy to buy something but it is not always easy to sell it. Pattaya has endless empty rooms and a lot of empty space to build even more empty rooms. I rented very long and when my last rented condo was sold I bought one. I am old and didn't want to move again. I moved so many times in my life. My idea was that before I die I wanted to have my own paradise with my own furniture and TV and other things I like. But sadly it didn't work out. Ten years ago I would not have cared too much. I liked to stay in hotels and rented rooms to be flexible and have no obligations. But now I am old and not the same anymore.

I have no problems to cut my losses to end my nightmare here. But in 30 years you also build up a social infrastructure. It is not only a condo. But I will get rid of all this to get rid of my mistake to buy property here. Pattaya does not give me any other option.

Not sure I agree 100%, but put into perspective - smoking kills 6-8 million people in the world EVERY year. If we assume 5 million will die of covid over two years before a vaccine roll out, up to 3 times that will have died from smoking or 2nd hand smoke. 800,000 million deaths from smoking in a century. Covid will appear as a tiny blip against that many

"very few have survived" is an exaggeration, Buakhao alone must have close to 100.

 

As for are they closing, a couple of shops told me they are staying open

And no, I don't know if "billy bob's restaurant and bar" is exempt from the order just because it's your favourite spot. Nor do I know if "auntie Somchai" will ignore the order and stay open (as many places no doubt will).

- The CCSA has approved the closure of entertainment venues in 41 provinces, which will come into effect from tonight (9 April) at midnight and run for 14 days at least.

Not to mention the travel restrictions many provinces had issued, primarily aimed at people from Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, and Nakhon Pathom.

I see these small percentages all the time but does anyone factor in the amount of people who would have died if they were not admitted to hospital had a tube shoved down their throat and eventually saved.

I guess those that want to convert Pattaya to a "family" resort will get their wish now, as I can't see the pre corona night life surviving if this sort of thing continues. At some stage the people that worked in the biz will move on to other things.
