PHUKET: Phuket has officially recognised three accidents in which three men were injured on Day 2 of the Seven Days of Danger road-safety campaign for the Songkran Thai New Year holidays yesterday (Apr 11), bringing the number of injured to four, but with no deaths.

Phuket drug arrests net 12k meth pills, half kilo of ice

PHUKET:-- Phuket Provincial Police have arrested three suspects in two raids, resulting in more than 500 grams of crystal meth (ya ice) and more than 12,300 pills methamphetamine (ya bah).

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand on Monday reported 985 new COVID-19 cases, a record daily jump for a second day in a row, as the country deals with a third wave of infections and a highly contagious variant.

People undergo COVID-19 tests at Urban Institute for Disease Prevention and Control

BANGKOK (NNT) - Many people who are at risk of contracting COVID-19 visit the Urban Institute for Disease Prevention and Control in Bang Khen district, Bangkok, to undergo COVID-19 tests. The institute is now open to such risk groups, with the aim of testing 500 people a day.

Army helps set up field hospitals, and provides beds and equipment

CHIANG MAI (NNT) - In addition to setting up field hospitals in military camps as instructed by the government and the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), the Royal Thai Army is providing personnel and equipment to help set up field hospitals in various provinces to the best of its ability.

Public to receive COVID-19 vaccine shots in June

BANGKOK (NNT) - In response to a question on the timing of bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to the people who are not medical personnel or in priority groups, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disease Control, Dr. Sophon Iamsirithavorn, has confirmed that the Ministry of Public Health will begin registration of the public in May, and inoculations will start in June.

Social Security extends self-employed coverage application deadline

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Social Security Office has extended the application period for the self-employed Social Security program, for persons who have lost their jobs, but wish to maintain their Social Security coverage. All they need to do is to apply by 30th June.

BMA to hold another round of vaccinations for Bang Khae people

BANG KHAE (NNT) - During the Songkran holiday, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has administered the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 90 percent of priority groups at Bang Khae market in Bangkok. The remaining 10 percent have not been vaccinated as they are heading to their home provinces or may be engaged in other work. The BMA will organize another round of vaccinations from April 19 to 21.
