Representing US President Joe Biden, Blinken attended the summits and met with various leaders. The discussion with Prime Minister Paetongtarn took place before a formal meeting, as noted on the US Department of State’s website. Blinken expressed his pleasure at the opportunity to engage with the Thai delegation, highlighting the long-standing alliance between Thailand and the United States. “There’s a powerful shared history, a foundation of shared values, and a commitment, both bilaterally and through ASEAN, to better the lives of our people,” he said. Blinken noted that the partnership covers areas such as inclusive economic growth, joint security challenges, climate change, and the transition to clean energy. Prime Minister Paetongtarn affirmed Thailand’s positive relationship with the United States, stating, “We have a very long-term good relationship, and we can always discuss anything you wish to pursue. I believe we can move forward together on future projects.” She then mentioned the recent flooding in northern Thailand, describing it as the main issue the country is currently facing. “The north of Thailand is experiencing daily flooding, although it’s now beginning to recover,” she said. Blinken acknowledged the concern and assured that they would discuss the issue further, along with other topics of mutual interest. The leaders expressed optimism about continuing their collaborative efforts in addressing these challenges, reported Thai PBS. -- 2024-10-16 -

Tom-Boy Charged in Deadly Nakhon Pathom Stabbing & Robbery
Authorities have charged a 28-year-old woman with three serious offences following the fatal stabbing of 23-year-old Mr. Kranchit (surname withheld), a businessman and owner of a catering service in Nakhon Pathom. The incident occurred on October 14, when the victim was attacked inside his Toyota Fortuner vehicle. He sustained five stab wounds and later died at the hospital. The assailant fled the scene after stealing a 3-baht gold necklace and two gold-encased amulets. Investigators quickly identified the suspect as Ms. Kanyagon (surname withheld), the half-sister of the victim. Ms. Kanyagon, who is described as a tom-boy, is the daughter of the victim’s father’s first wife, while the deceased was the son of the second wife. Surveillance footage captured Ms. Kanyagon fleeing on a red Yamaha Grand Filano motorbike after the attack. The authorities tracked her down to an apartment in Uthai District, Ayutthaya Province. Officers from the Nakhon Pathom Police, in collaboration with the Uthai Police, arrested Ms. Kanyagon and recovered the stolen necklace, amulets, and the motorcycle used in the crime. During the arrest, Ms. Kanyagon was taken to the crime scene to point out where she discarded bloodstained clothing and shoes. She is currently being questioned to determine the motive behind the brutal attack. Ms. Kanyagon faces charges of premeditated murder, armed robbery leading to death, and possession of a weapon in public spaces. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case. 'Hope he's OK': Kamala Harris mocks Donald Trump's odd behavior at town hall
Video of Donald Trump bopping on stage to the beat of his musical playlist - from Luciano Pavarotti to the Village People, for nearly 40 minutes after a truncated town hall in a battleground state - triggered more questions Tuesday about the former president's mental stability. "Hope he's okay," said Trump's Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, in a post on the social media platform X. Trump cut short Monday night's Pennsylvania town hall and called for the musical interlude after a pair of medical emergencies interrupted his campaign event. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/15/kamala-harris-mocks-donald-trumps-town-hall-behavior/75682746007/ Well, if he loses the election, maybe he can get a job as a backup dancer for Taylor Swift. -

Indian Man Falls from 15th Floor of Luxury Hotel in Thonglor
A 29-year-old Indian national, Mr. Yash Dashrath Bhanushali, fell to his death from the 15th floor of a luxury hotel in the Thonglor area. His body was found dangling from the fifth-floor balcony roof, partially suspended with his legs entangled in the metal frame. Police believe the fall may have been caused by cannabis intoxication, as products were found in his hotel room. The incident occurred at around 02.00 on October 14, when Thonglor Police Station was alerted to the fall. Investigating officers, along with forensic experts and rescue personnel, arrived at the scene to find Mr. Bhanushali’s upper body hanging from the balcony roof, while his legs were caught on the frame. Blood pooled on the ground beneath him, and his shirt had slipped off, resting in his hands. He was dressed in black pants, and there were no immediate signs of a struggle. A search of his hotel room on the 15th floor revealed several packages of cannabis products scattered on the desk and floor. Police have collected the items as evidence. No signs of forced entry or a disturbance were noted, and the room appeared undisturbed. According to hotel security guard Mr. Suriwat Khewnoi, he heard a loud thud around 01:30, prompting him to check the security cameras. Footage showed Mr. Bhanushali falling from the 15th floor and landing on the fifth-floor balcony. Further investigation revealed that the window in his hotel room, located at room 1519, was left open. Mr. Bhanushali had been staying alone since October 6 and was scheduled to check out on October 15. Surveillance footage from October 13 showed that Mr. Bhanushali had left the hotel and returned at 20:04. There were no visitors or other entries to his room after that time, suggesting that he may have fallen from his own window. The body has been sent to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy has been contacted to notify the victim’s family and arrange for the repatriation of his remains.
