Jonathan Fairfield
BANGKOK (NNT) - Economic analysts have expressed a belief that if the government is able to hit its target of vaccinating 70 percent of the population, the economy could still grow 3-4 percent this year, urging the private sector to help fund the undertaking. President of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Sanun Angubonkul, underlined that the Thai economy is dependent on tourism and it is thus imperative that the country reopens soon. Acknowledging that the government is in the process of acquiring 100 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to inoculate 50 million people, or 70 percent of the population, Sanun said that the faster the process is carried out the quicker the economy can return to growth. The president made known that the private sector is ready to fund the acquisition of vaccines to be administered to employees and would support quicker dispersion of the jabs along with promoting an understanding among the public. Other areas in which the private sector is ready to provide support include locations, personnel and technology. The chamber believes that if the 70 percent target is reached this year, the economy could see 3 percent growth in the third quarter and 4 percent growth in the fourth quarter when the tourism season starts. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-04-24

Pedrogaz
So the economy will start growing in the 2030s then, given the progress to data. Better move to Plan B, and start telling lies that everyone has already been vaccinated.
natway09
Another "nut" sprouting the obvious. Where do they get these people from that continually feel the need to " make their own statement" instead of getting on & doing useful tasks like lobbying the Government to get Siam Biotech off their rear ends & deliver

ikke1959
It seems that they don't have clue what is going on...70% of 70 million people is 49 million people.. From February till now they could vaccine 600.000 people. that is 2 months. So in 6 months they think they can do 49 million??? 8 million a month about 165.000 people a day?? Very smart as a normal so called scientist I can tell you that after the rainy season there will be a dry season.

newnative
Oh, dear. That pesky 'IF'. IF the government can vaccinate 70% of the population. We'll be lucky if it's 7% by the end of the year the way it's going so far.
