rodknock
will private hospitals charge the government price for vaccinations or be allowed to run free and charge what ever they want??? why would some one want to go to a private hospital for the same vaccination the government gives and pay a rip off price. if the government set a fair price for hospitals to charge, they would probably get more people vaccinated!! scubascuba3
Today I hear a falang is paying 30k a day in a Pattaya hospital because he has covid, that's for 14 days, so 420k, so the choice is pay for the vaccinations at a private hospital or risk 420k, it may not be available at govt hospitals, Thais will be prioritised
internationalism
prices for vax are flowing around from 3200b to 15k. So be ready around 9k. Nobody knows, until June, when some sputnik said to be available. as to hospital, get any insurance fast, starting from some 500b per year for covid, to some basic health around 15k only inpatient (I am just getting it now). rodknock
what happens if you do not have the money for a hospital stay for covid-19, they send you home, or do they send you to a prison where covid-19 is rampet and pay for your care? You will probably have to wait until 2023 to get a vaccine from the Thai government. At least there is some hope that private hospitals will have vaccines by the end of this year. Your choice if you want to wait indefinitely for your free shot.
impulse
I'd suggest people hold off griping about rip off prices until they actually see what the price is. Edit: Overcharging for a Covid vaccine would be extremely short sighted on the part of any private hospital. I can't think of a better promotion to get new prospective patients (especially foreigners) in the door than to offer a reasonable price for the vaccines. Get 'em in the door, show 'em our facilities (and how they're much more appealing than gov't hospitals) and get their contact information so we can market to them for years by e-mail and text. It could be a marketing bonanza. Or they may punt and go for a short term, relatively insignificant bump and alienate and drive off their future clientele. But I'd hope the hospital marketing departments are smarter than that. Edited April 25, 2021 by impulse

internationalism
what is important is speed of getting vax, price is secondary. The hospital which in december started advertise wanted 500% mark up, but the reason for the government to stop them and apologise was that they did not have any chances of import, the AZ wasn't even applying for clearance in thailand. The true reason, that the government did not want anybody to import before they official vax program. I don't think the government will be interfering with price, the higher it is, the bigger tax for treasury. Private hospitals stopped talking about price several months ago, when they were told off for the second time to stop meddling with vax.
wasabi
At this point I am not worried about the price. The problem is zero options for any vaccine and I do not count Sinovac as a viable option even if it were to become available.

'Get em in the door, show ‘em our facilities’ ..........test them for covid-19, tell them they are clear ….but they have found you have a mystery ailment that needs immediate attention. Lock you in a specialist room at 40k per day and mumble to you occasionally in ‘doctor’ speak. Wire you up in series to a Commodore 128 and Zilog Z80 for days whilst you actually are surrounded by other patients that do have covid-19. Eventually you contract the virus but miraculously emerge partially unscathed a week later. Can I opt out of this by staying at home….in a cupboard for a few more weeks.
