webfact
By Paphamon Arayasukawat BANGKOK (NNT) - The Ministry of Public Health has elaborated on its procurement plans for a 26 billion baht budget allocation from emergency loans, mainly for the purchase of medications, vaccine, and protective equipment for COVID-19 patient care, while the actual spending so far is still less than 6 billion. The Ministry of Public Health’s Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr Sura Wisedsak, said today the budget will fund 39 campaigns, with 25.175 billion baht saved for campaigns run by agencies under the MOPH. A total of 4.726 billion baht will be paid as compensation to village health volunteers, while a portion of the 2.655 billion is to be used for the purchase of medications, vaccine, and lab operations by the Department of Disease Control and the National Vaccine Institute. The National Health Security Office has been allocated a total of 6.764 billion for treatment, disease control, and research. The MOPH has allocated 10.182 billion baht to the preparation of hospitals to treat and isolate suspected COVID-19 cases, as well as another 1.496 billion for epidemic emergency responses. Some agencies outside the MOPH are sharing a portion of a 650 million baht budget from this emergency loan allocation, such as the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, Phramongkutklao Hospital, the Police General Hospital, and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department. So far, funding from the 25.8 billion baht budget has been approved for 13 campaigns, worth 17.61 billion in total. These include the purchase of isolation room equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), COVID-19 vaccine, disease control equipment, radiation therapy devices; charges for public health services, compensation for village health volunteers and emergency operations charges for medical professionals, as well as the development of healthcare service system, labs, equipment, and vaccine quality. From the approved 13 campaigns, disbursements of a total of 5.859 billion baht have already been processed. There are still 26 more campaigns awaiting approval for a total of 8.215 billion baht’s funding, with 19.174 billion still available. The MOPH deputy permanent secretary said today that funding for these campaigns can be adapted according to the development of the COVID-19 situation in the country, to ensure the people are taken care of at the highest level. -- © Copyright NNT 2021-04-27 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

newnative
4.76 billion baht for 'village health volunteers'? Don't they know volunteering is free? Pity so little of the 26 billion went to actually buying vaccine.
Soikhaonoiken
26 billion Baht is probably a lot less than what the hiso ministers have already taken out of Government coffers, Also why so little been spent already, no doubt waiting to see how much can be shared out at the end of the day...
