Sophon Cable TV reported that children at 11 schools in Pattaya would be able to do their lessons via another method.

Cable TV in the Pattaya area.

Mayor Sontaya Kunplome said that he had put his deputy Banleu Kunlawanich in charge of this new provision that will provide an alternative means of learning while the schools are shut.

Sophon plus Bang Lamung Cable and Thipmanee Cable reach 80% of homes so very little needs to be done in terms of infrastructure.

Banleu was contacting the schools to make sure that they had the IT wherewithal to make it a reality.

I predicted this very same thing 3 years ago for Thailand.

The Intercept about how all of Education will go online eventually.

As older teachers are retiring and Thailand is unable to find replacements this will become the standard for education in Thailand.

The wealthy will attend private schools and the best public schools in person.

The balance of the population will be left to attend online classes.

In my view of how this will all go down the students will watch the classes on television and then submit their lessons online be it via form or an upload process.

Viewing the lessons through television removes a serious problem with a number of issues related to data / internet and the delivery of coursework online.

Similar pilot programs have been run by Chukalongkorn.

Infrastructure ????

It would be nice if they could keep the Pattaya  digital TV transmitter operating 24/7

very often at about 6-8pm the signal just disappears.

Also disappeared the distance learning channels DLTV no prior announcements on screen or reason given just stopped transmitting via terrestrial TV

so now only available by satellite, cable or internet .

Strangely DLTV are still listed in the channel list ? but tuning to the channel just renders a black screen , if they are not transmitting why include them in the list causing confusion as to whether your equipment is faulty !!!!
