Yes, it came into the UK and likely out of it too. It had been around for months before being discovered in the UK in Nov 2020.

The best solution seems to be to control who comes into a country, restricting exit is an unusual approach.

I agree ! HKG is a great and efficient airport, and Cathay Pacific a great and professional airline.

It's May 2021, there's been millions of reported deaths (with additional deaths for the past 12 months being significantly higher than average), untold devastation multiple countries, and yet there are STILL covid deniers trying to argue it's no big deal.

I really wish there was a way to interview someone from the "most people dying were old so the deaths don't matter" crowd that lost a parent to covid to get their thoughts.  Do they change their mind once the disease reaches home? Or are they so lacking in empathy and so stubborn about their argument that they don't even show emotion over it?

When transiting and if one has a problem it is better to be in a place where airport staff does the following:

1)Listen  2) Understand 3) At the very least attempt to solve the problem.  

 

I have had success at the following airports in achieving the above mentioned three:  1) SIN 2) ICN 3) DXB 4)TPE 5) KUL and 6) DOH

 

I have had major issues at the following airports and was never understood by airport staff:  1)HKG 2) IST 3)KWI and 4) KBL

I understand you. And I agree about HKG, they didn't listen,  they didn't understand,  and they were not interested in solving the problem. 

 

( Chinese like to refer to Mr Xi as Winnie the Pooh. Mr Xi doesn't find this funny at all. 

Chinese friends warned me not to enter a lawless place like HKG or the PRC. I think that's ridiculous,  but on the other side, there are plenty of other airlines)

Maybe its just that they have no confidence in any of the figures the government put out regarding Covid 19 in Thailand nor any confidence that they are anything other than incompetent and corrupt. Many senior Japanese have been in Thailand for decades so they know full well how this country is run, or not, and ultimately who for, and hence that will filter up to Japanese ministers. Consequently they will take steps where ever possible to ensure that this virus and its mutantations are not spread to Japan by contact with infected Thais. Whether that be whilst transiting and picking up from a Thai airport personnel, beverage outlets whatever.

The IOC determined last year there can be no more postponement

It happens this summer or Tokyo 2020 is cancelled. The next summer Olympics is Paris 2024
