Phnom Penh authorities have announced that there are no more Red Zones in the capital, instead locking down individual houses of positive Covid-19 patients. Barricades in former Red Zones were opened across the city yesterday, after being locked down for nearly a month.

Phnom Penh governor Khuong Sreng ordered the removal of Red Zones – high-risk areas of Covid-19 spread – and instead opted to lockdown individual houses or condominiums. “House owners [in locked down buildings] must be responsible and implement the measures very strictly to avoid transmitting Covid-19 from one person to another,” Sreng said.

He also said that district authorities must take care of the health and food supply of people locked down in these buildings, because food supplies are need to be replenished. In a related news, the Ministry of Health has seen a decrease in national daily Covid-19 cases with more being reported in provinces  rather than in Phnom Penh.
