BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand is opening a special field hospital for COVID-19 patients with disabilities; it has been constructed in Pathum Thani. The new facility is able to accommodate asymptomatic to mild symptom patients, starting from 1st June.

The Thai government has set up a field hospital for COVID-19 patients with disabilities at Sirindhorn Science Home in Pathum Thani. This 224-bed hospital will be welcoming its first patients on 1st June next week.

This special field hospital is intended to serve as a model for COVID-19 treatment for disabled patients. It is equipped with special facilities such as remote controlled carts to deliver items to patients, UV-C sanitizers, assistive devices for deaf people, and negative pressure stretchers.

Prior to the opening on 1st June, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation Anek Laothamatas, and Deputy Minister of Public Health Satit Pitutacha observed the preparedness of the facility.

Meanwhile in Bangkok, officials are working to contain the spread of COVID-19 at many clusters across the capital. The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) has launched the Hope for Home at Khong Rotfai Yommarat Community with some 700-800 residents.

With this campaign, the MSDHS has joined hands with private firms to disinfect areas in the community, before extending the campaign to other communities in Bangkok.

The MSDHS has provided guidelines to help people affected by COVID-19, by providing shelters and allowances for affected families.

Meanwhile, in Khlong San district, the district office has joined forces with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Health Department to offer on-site COVID-19 testing at forest park beneath Taksin Bridge. The mobile testing center will operate at this location today and tomorrow, as well as on 29-30 May.

75 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Khlong San District, with the largest cluster linked to a migrant workers community at Wongwian Yai market. The district has not detected any cases at construction camps, where preventative measures are being implemented.
