Big Joke wants YOUR views on police reform - he's setting up a "People Poll"

Daily News reported that recently reintegrated top cop Lt-Gen Surachate Hakparn will be asking the people about police reform.

Nothing appears to be off limits after RTP chief Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk tasked the man known as Big Joke with finding out what the public thinks and how the force could be improved.

The Lt-Gen will be setting up what the media called a "People Poll" on Google form to give their views.

It will start from June 1st and continue for four months giving people an opportunity to comment on interactions with the cops on patrol and at police stations or anything else that comes to mind.

This will inform future strategy and development of the Royal Thai Police.

Big Joke was given the job of working and advising on police reform - a poisoned chalice if ever there was one - by PM Prayuth Chan-ocha earlier this year, notes Thaivisa.

The previous head of the immigration burea and deputy of the tourist police was surprisingly removed from his roles a few years ago and told to shuffle paper at the PM's office.

His rehabilitation came as a surprise also after he was transferred back to HQ to begin his advisory role.

Now it's up to the Thai people to tell him what they think of their police.

The results are bound to fill many column inches, suggests Thaivisa.

Where to start?Too much money involved in buying positions, being a police  officer should be a calling not a money grab.

Take it from there.loads more.

Has he got a year to spare to listen ?   And even if he does listen and take the People's idea's to heart, even try to implement the best of them, will it make any difference ?    The whole thing is rotten to the core; they need total disbandment and a rebuild using NONE of the current force !

Marvelous news. He's back to let everyone know that now he cares about you and wants to know all of your hopes, dreams, thoughts, and feelings.

Be sure to visit the "People Poll", follow instructions, download and install any specially designed and totally transparent apps, and submit the correct forms with all necessary information.

Yes....all is well, for the new, improved, and redesigned Joker is born again.

Here's one idea, show a search warrant  to the occupant of the property BEFORE you storm the place with 50 plain cloths policemen...

VERY  simple, way way overstaffed , cut the force in HALF double the salary for that half and MAKE them get OUT on the streets  working DAY AND NIGHT, the fact I have to tell you this  shows  me already you are unsuitable for the job jokeboy.

I believe Hong Kong sets an example in that respect... a well paid force with zero tolerance for corruption.  (Now don't jump all over me, I heard this second hand and have never lived there)

Nice points, perhaps the start point is their recruitment processes and exams, and even before that why so many want to join the force.

Maybe they have to start working.

and not only office hours from 9.00 - 16.30 but day and night in shifts

And checkpoints are to check... everything and not only tax paid yes or no...

Check alcohol abuse, driving license, and if your car is ok to drive with.  working lights, wipers, brakes, profile of the tires, overloading, to high loaded and black smoke.. and of also for motorcycles. helmets, age, three on a bike, driverslicense, speeding and make the list longer. There is a lot of work to do every day and night. So start with it

HK has had it's moments too, in earlier days harassment and intimidation was rampant.

Which way do you want it:

- If he decided, with no research/data/feedback what needs fixing you would complain that the public wasn't consulted.

- But if he tries to do research, get data and feedback you also complain.

Another day, another poll.

The hub of useless polls and surveys.

Doesn't really  matter does it we BOTH  know there  will be absolutely ZERO  change.

Oh I forgot except their super  new haircuts which IS an absolute priority, all they need  now is the jack boots  to go with it.

The problem is it is a polls and polls are made up from being manipulated having only certain boxes to check feeding into the hands of the makers without having any big unwelcome large ramifications due to the subject matter. In the end it will be twisted and nothing comes out from it except a big waste of time....

How about not a pol and make it a site for real opinions to include everyone in government at every level with the person posting an opinion having full immunity to prosecution, including the immigration department with the person posting having full immunity to prosecution, as well as the topic of the RTP and the poster having full immunity to prosecution. Let's even take it to the military not being left out but also having full immunity to prosecution. Let it fully rip or stop the BS and façade of trying to be do-gooders in sheep's clothing.

Trust me, he does not want your views, Mr. Farang.

Could  start  with the questions  of who booted you out and why? followed by who filled your car with holes and why? and how do you afford expensive holidays on police  pay?????

Looking forward to the NIDA poll announcement soon.

'99.99% of 1,824 respondents think the Police do a fantastic job.'

Give it a week or two... ????

It specifically says 'Thai people' in the OP.

Do more work planning and less press conference planning

I have long suspected Big Joke was removed BECAUSE he was not corrupt.

He started to enforce the actual rules and stepped on a few toes by doing so.

Simple steps.

1. Rename Royal Thai Police to Royal Thai Minions or Royal Thai Mafia.

2. Don't try to create a real police force because everyone knows it's just a <deleted> story to make it look like you want to hear from people what they want without ignoring it.

3. Stop making fake news stories to try to fool people - we know you only ever tested one truck with a smoky exhaust in 2010 so stop saying you're doing a job.

They tend to be less confrontational, less direct and much less likely to criticize. The perfect subjects when you want your side to come out smelling like roses.
