They do not specify, but this might well just be not carrying it when stopped... as in my brother is using it today. 1

Police would have to fine 50 to 75 % of Thai road users if they were to enforce the ‘not following the instructions of traffic signs’ rule. I mean, speeding, going the wrong way, undertaking, overtaking where it’s not allowed or dangerous, not stopping for stop signs or pedestrian crossings, the list is just endless.

I mean, speeding, going the wrong way, undertaking, overtaking where it’s not allowed or dangerous, not stopping for stop signs or pedestrian crossings, the list is just endless. but that's where people get confused by using their home country interpretation of what 'undertaking' means... In those countries where no one is allowed to overhaul another vehicle, by switching over to and availing the 'slower' lane (Left in UK & Right in US/Euro) the 'undertaking' term has a concrete meaning. In Thailand, the 'No Undertaking' applies to where there is: 1. but a single lane each way scenario, that to get past the vehicle in front, the fellow had to bump his way onto the Left Verge of the road. - In the above Thailand scenario, a vehicle IS allowed to use the Left Verge to get around a vehicle in front; that is slowed to stop because he's Turning Right off the carriageway In Thailand, the Road Rules are quite explicit, that the 'No Undertaking' rule does not apply availing the next-Left lane on a multiple lane carriageway... On a multiple lane carriageway, the only time the 'No Undertaking Rule applies, is again; 1. - Not allowed to go around the Left side of the vehicle in front by using the Left Verge. - In the above Thailand scenario, a vehicle IS allowed to use the Left Verge to get around a vehicle in front; that is Turning Right off the carriageway The written Thai Road Rules about this have been Posted multiple times on earlier similar Topic. So... if one is hurtling down a lower importance road that has but one single lane each way, and a Slow car is ahead. You cannot jump onto the Left verge to get passed him -However; if that car ahead has Slowed to Stop because he is for example turning Right to get off the road into his driveway on the other side of the road; you CAN use the Left Verge to go around him. In the Thailand roads multiple carriageway scenario; if you encounter a vehicle in front in your lane going slower than your own speed; you CAN switch lanes on his Left side to advance your journey without hindrance... The only limitation to freely using the next lane on the Left on a multiple lane carriageway - is if another vehicle is already there in that other lane
