Thailand targets 3 million foreign tourists this year under phased reopening

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Tourism-reliant Thailand expects about three million foreign tourist arrivals this year, tied to a phased reopening to vaccinated visitors later this year, the state tourism agency said on Wednesday.

Kanchanaburi’s Sangkhla Buri district receives only one bottle of vaccine

The Sangkhla Buri district of Thailand’s western border province of Kanchanaburi has received one bottle of COVID-19 vaccine, enough to vaccinate just ten people, because only ten people have applied via the Mor Prom app to receive it, Governor Jirakiat Phumsawat explained today (Wednesday).

Foreigner infected while in Phuket quarantine

PHUKET: A foreigner has tested positive for COVID-19 while still staying at a local quarantine facility, it was revealed during a live broadcast by key Phuket officials, including Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew, this morning (June 9).

5 Herbal Medicines Are Added to National List of Essential Medicinal Herbs

BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Drug System Development Board has published a notification in the Royal Gazette stating that it has added five herbal medicines to Thailand’s National List of Essential Medicinal Herbs, in order to drive and promote the use of herbal medicines in the health service system.

Exiled Former Thai Prime Minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, and her cabinet, have been cleared of any wrongdoing by an investigative panel of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), in connection with the approval of about 1.9 billion baht in compensation for victims of violent political protests and the crackdown on red-shirt protesters by troops between 2005 and 2010.

Electricity outages to affect Kamala, Koh Kaew

Thai parliament passes bill on $16 billion borrowing to fight COVID-19

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's parliament on Thursday passed a bill to allow the government to borrow an additional 500 billion baht ($16 billion) to help the tourism-reliant country deal with its latest and worst coronavirus outbreak so far.

Samet Island Achieves 100% COVID-19 Vaccination Target

Thai parliament approves 500 billion baht borrowing to fight COVID-19

Thailand’s House of Representatives approved an executive decree today (Thursday), authorizing the Finance Ministry to borrow up to 500 billion baht for the fight against COVID-19, assistance for people affected by the disease and for economic rehabilitation.
