Vax drama! VIPs jump the queue as hundreds wait for their jabs in Samut Prakan

Sanook reported on what they called a drama that took place during a mass vaccination drive in the municipality of Bang Poo in Samut Prakarn province yesterday.

Hundreds of ordinary people had been waiting for their jabs since 8.30 am - now it was nearly midday and they still hadn't been seen to amid growing frustrations.

Then in walked a group of "VIPs" who were ushered to the front of the queue and given their jabs as the rest of the people were forced to wait on.

Officials were forced to explain to the unhappy throng that this group had "registered before"

And they "needed to get back to work".

Of course, other people who were not important enough had also registered and doubtless many also needed to get back to work - but they had to wait.

Lock them up! And let us hope the people rise up against this sort of nonsense. Publish names. Shame them. Embarrass them.

Why Thai's don't stand up as we would back in our home country, I have no idea, oi, the back of the queue is there, and people in numbers saying the same thing works in my opinion.

Shameful behaviour, though I suspect exactly the same has happened everywhere. Some people just can't wait their turn.

Them and us.....   happens all over the World, especially popular in Thailand.

It is as if OP just discovered planet earth. Not only common worldwide but more so in Thailand .

Naturally they did not expect people to speak up but remain silent as per usual.

What's the problem? They probably used an agent. How many posters here do the same thing at immigration.

Read today that some HI-SO guys from BKK dresses as motorbike taxi driver in order to get a vaccine quicker.

Probably not HI-SO enough to fly to the USA.

For us foreignness lot it's bad manners and unacceptable, but for the locals who grew on the feudalistic society system where a Phu Yei is beyond criticism and "has the right" to push others around and demand preferential treatment is quiet all right...

Big vax drive for VIPs yeasterday near the MoPH. More porsche and lexus that I could poke a stick at in the parking lot.

I think VIPs should get vaccinated first and they should pay a lot for this.

Maybe there could even be an auction. First shot for a million THB. and maybe the 1000th shot for only 10,000 THB.

I am sure lots of rich people would be willing to pay for this.

And the money could be used to finance the vaccination of everybody - i.e. hire more nurses and doctors.

The same principle is used in many computer services. I.e. with Zoom. Everybody can use it for free. But to use it with premium features people have to pay. And this system works.

Let the rich bid who wants to pay most to be one of the first. That would be win win for everybody.

A couple of times I've seen Thais challenge other Thai who have come to the front / cut in half way along the queue etc., and other Thais just accept the situation.

But are they happy at what's just happened? NO.

Saw one obvious HI-So lady walk from nowhere to the front of the AirAsia boarding queue at swampy. A well dressed Thai lady in the queue quickly got the attention of the hi-so lady and pointed to the end of the queue but the hi-so lady ignored her. Another queue member grabbed the cabin bags of the hi-so lady and took them to the end of the queue, but them down on the carpet and returned to her original spot in the queue.

Hi-So was totally shocked, she ran to the end of the line grabbed her bags and fled.

A while later (vast majority of passengers were already seated) Hi-So lady appeared at the front of the aircraft and sat down at first vacant seat. AirAsia crew member asked to see her boarding pass and indicated that her seat was way further down the aircraft.

Passengers started to clap. Hi-So lady grabbed her bags and fled out of the aircraft. A few seconds later doors closed and locked and aircraft took off.

to be continued....

The said Hi-SO appeared at my condo 2 hours after leaving the aircraft, knocked on my door and asked if she could stay overnight. I pointed her to the ticket machine in front of my apartment and told her to take a ticket and queue. Other ladies came before.

Ah, you beat me to it.  Yes they know who they are, but no one really cares anymore as this attitude from those with money are pissing off the pitchfork wielding lower class.  Gonna get ugly....

Posted this yesterday, but I still think it's funny and appropriate????

I love that when people say to me "Do you know who I am" my reply "Why are you lost"?

Yes, but it happens by appointment or even house/office calls.

That "vips" would cut the line at a mass vaccination clinic show how out of touch they are.

The acceptance of this type of behavior is in their cultural DNA, with many not even thinking anything is wrong with it.

I see this type of lord/serf relationship and behavior every day at my job, with the office staff literally grovelling to please and serve the senior officials. The ducking down to not obstruct someones view is especially odd...

I am disgusted by it until its my turn to receive similar treatment...555

And quite possibly reveals that they have been taught as they grow up that they are special and entitled to be first, and other people are just the rubbish, to be ignored, etc.

Once in a Thai restaurant with my Thai nephew, his Thai wife and kids and his 2 work colleagues, a waiter was part way through taking our food/drinks orders, total of 9 people. My nephew was obviously the host.

Obvious Hi-So lady with friends sat down at next table and instantly demanded that the same waiter come and take her orders. Waiter ignored her until she spoke loudly and demanded.

Waiter went to her table and spoke to her, then looked back at out able and a little bit loudly spoke to my nephew "I'm sorry professor, I'll be back quickly".

Hi-So lady asked waiter who he was talking to. My nephew went to their table and said "He's talking to me", and he then came back to our table.

Hi-So asked the waiter "is he a professor, what university?"

Waiter responded: "yes, he's aprofessor at ... uni, his wife also, and his farang uncle is also a professor, at .... Uni".

Hi-so lady and friends quickly disappeared.

That's how Thailand works, there are plain people, there are VIPs, and there are VVIPs...????

Special treatment has been going on for centuries and it will continue for centuries . Nothing new here !

So basically like the boarding or check in procedure for most commercial flights.

This behavior is only made possible by the proles, assuming the position of cowering. Krueng Jai.

The ordinary people should have caused a ruckus.

It would only take a few such incidents for more people to question the inequitable Thai social contract.

They're never going to acheive any sort of equality sitting on their behinds. It's not like the higher ups are looking to cede their power or position out of the kindness of their hearts.

And some members on here are proud to be part of that society, makes you think eh.

It was never going to be anything different was it ????
