scorecard
A bit of a twist. I adopted my Thai son when he was 21 years old (about 16 years ago), we have the approval document issued by the ministry. He's now 37 years old, married to Thai national and they have 3 kids. They live in Thailand. In the above situation, as a foreigner can I apply for a visa to enter/be in Thailand on the basis of being the parent of a child born in Thailand? Thanks. ubonjoe
You could apply for a non-o visa at a embassy. But unless he is your child from birth immigration will not consider him as being your child to apply for a extension of stay for being the parent of a Thai. Even if he was your child from birth most immigration offices will refuse the extension since is over the age of 20. For older children there is a provision in the immigration order to you to be under the maintenance of your child if over 50. But I am not aware of anybody doing it.
