Bangkok: CCSA reject calls for lockdown

you can play now or later but you will play, open your eyes Thailand, live history lessons from the world abound. When their hospitals decide they won't test anymore as in Bangkok now, (in case of positives and they have to follow protocols) to try and save bed space you know this is going to end very badly.

When are folks going to learn that we’re just going to have to live with this virus just like every one we’ve faced in the past. We have never locked down economies, cherry picked which businesses have to close, mandated vaccines and cowered before bureaucrats while hiding in our closets. Get over it and get on with our lives! The rest of you can hide, be my guest.

Exactly my friend. Isn’t it amazing how so many people have been hoodwinked.

We said a month before Songkran to cancel it, stop interprovincial travel & drink in your local.pub

So they closed the bars, let Songkran go ahead allowing a spread of staff & holiday revellers in their millions  far & wide, & now they are all of a sudden specialists on "bubbles"....

.makes you wanna puke

"One prominent doctor had called for a week long shutdown in Bangkok."  Who was this "prominent doctor" does he pointed ears?....or a AKA of Mr.Hyde.

Remember that all doctors have a "duty of care" which means they can risk a lawsuit if they don't follow official lines as laid down by the Big-Pharma financed medical journals.

This means it is "narrow science" based and does not take into account ANY personal hardships that may retult in their actions.    Trust me I am a doctor......

I’m sure if they define strict red zones with complete travel interdiction it will help hugely. PCR tests and vaccination being obligatory for mouvement. Ban holidays and religious ceremonies. This way they don’t have to shut down everywhere. As long as travel is allowed , example, workers going into Phuket , there are going to be problems. Close borders to islands promoting sandbox. Zone closing worked in France, and we had a lot of cases. Of course, the vaccination program needs to be accelerated.

They won't shut Bangkok down. Bangkokians gotta be able to visit Pattaya's lady boys.

Taweesilp argued that locking down Bangkok could cause more harm than good.

He wanted to avoid another mass exodus to the provinces that caused such a debacle at Songkran.

If Bangkok is locked down there is no exodus of course, as nobody can leave, unless of course you announce it a week upfront

Excellent response - very important that that kind of 'blanket shutdowns' end because  it becomes very damaging to a much broader area of Thai Society.  Keep it 'local and very specific', with best humanitarian considerations possible for this those caught up within that particular framework. All shutdowns, lockdowns, in any form, create terrible despair to those caught up in that... all working Thais have suffered a great deal from this from the beginning of the response to the Covid-19 event.

What he is really saying is that we don't want to get caught with our pants down again so we will keep things the same as they are.

Well that won't happen until next Songkran .... will it???

Meanwhile buckle up hide your granny with 2 face masks on and hope Delta does not explode.

I actually happen to agree with him. But I do think they need some additional measures, such as restricting interprovincial travel further.

Restrictions in themselves are useless. People still travel from red and deep red to the provinces, and those in the provinces do nothing. After 2/3 days they retuirn leaving their infections behind!. Strongarm tactics are necesary.  10,000/20,000bt fines and lock the buggers up!

Pronounced "few". Used as an expression of relief.

Thanks, but I was an English teacher for a few years, and Thai English teachers were always asking me what certain words meant, and I was always able to answer them. Another word that keeps popping up now is per se, and I have no idea what that means either.

I’m pleasantly surprised. Thailand so far resisting the pressure to go completely nuts and destroy the country, the way so many western countries have.

The unelected "PM" and his cohorts have already went nuts and put the country on the way to destruction, long before the virus even came.

It is removed. When found with Covid and not presenting themselves, the army will come to pick you up, in a white suit.  You will be on the back of an open pick up truck or an ambulance. I have seen it. Removed is the proper description

Yeah ! and then the boys in black will come and give you a seeing to !

I heard there is an emergency meeting with the doctors at 2pm to assess this. Lockdown might be imminent.

Yet on another thread it says the PM has announced that Bangkok will not be locked down, any more than it is already. Clear as mud!

Yes, "black leather with zips" sounds more like a motorcycle gang than a medical crew ????

Two girls in black leather suits with zips turn up every Saturday night at my neighbour's place! The week before they were nurses!
