The end of the Away Goals Rule

The away goals rule will be removed from all UEFA club competitions from the 21/22 season. Never liked, happy with this change.

If the goals tally are tied at final whistle in the 2nd tie, it goes to extra time and penalties if necessary. Far more exciting for tv.

City were knocked out on away goals twice in the CL - to Monaco in 16/17, and Spurs in 18/19.

Could turn out more exciting.

But remember, the point of the away goals rule was to stop teams parking the bus away from home.......

Football has moved on from those days as Ceferin explained

Hmmmph......I see even more ultra boring first legs....not that this rule ever made much difference.

Change for the sake of change seems to be the new mantra. Bunch of overpaid, half-smart bores justifying their salaries.

Football should be about going out there to win, but with the Away Goals Rule it becomes a bit of a fear game. Agreed it was probably a good rule when introduced but it's no longer required IMO.

I'm with you on that. A goal is a goal and a goal shouldn't ever be considered as 2 goals. We ain't playing golf and having handicaps
