They have also explored the possibility of utilizing Koh Larn, the plan is to utilize the island as part of the program in some manner,

They did not install all that hi-tech, stuff Like gates, facial scan, thermal scan, and now security officers on Bali-Hi pier for no reason....They have big plans for Koh Larn..

And to think alls you needed to do before was pay 30 baht and get on the boat....

Meanwhile, in the first batch of "fully vaccinated" tourists to arrive in Phuket, one person tested positive on arrival. Meaning he (or she) was infected long before they got on the plane. Now they are testing the others that arrived on the same flight.

But of course that would never happen with any tourists arriving in Pattaya ! Nothing but top quality, honest chaps that just want to sit in a bar and have a quiet beer and maybe a cheap Thai meal afterwards !

Nothing to worry about. Move along !

Pattaya always managed to get through storms somehow. I am unsure how Pattaya mayor plans to open up Pattaya only but have a feeling it will one way or another.

It will be super interesting though how it will happen if country goes into a lockdown and cases still rising

If Pattaya has a Covid surge, it's not going to come from VTT's (vaccinated, tested tourists) who are arriving in Phuket at and testing positive at a rate of 1/2000.  It's going to come from local Thais, testing positive at a rate of up to 20%.

70% vaccination rate is great if it prevents them from passing Covid around among each other.  But it's totally unnecessary to accommodate VTT's.   Even if they have a few breakthrough cases, they're still by far the safest people to host in your hotel or restaurant.  By a factor of 100.  Plus, they have tourist money burning a hole in their pockets.

They will have to solve the problem of the virus screaming in with the Thai and migrant workers from red zones.  But that's already happening as they all escape BKK.  Without the benefit of tourist $$$.

If they dont completely lockdown for 1 month and mass vacinate, deaths will be in the hundreds by sept.

Was planning return to pattaya in oct but with nothing open and so many have left town and more covid problems think it will 2022,

I left pattaya in may 2021 was only a shadow of its self the bit that was open shut the rest was abandoned and in disrepair inc walking st.

Dont fancy staying in koh larn ok for day trip and with monsoon LOL

So its going to be Covid vs. Pattaya.

So its going to be the Battle of Pattaya.

Kind of reminds of the Battle of Trafalgar

The Pattaya City Mayor, Sonthaya Khunplume, met with his deputy mayors and relevant tourism and business owners and agencies in Pattaya today, July 7th, to discuss the reopening of the city to foreign vaccinated tourists without a strict fourteen-day quarantine, like Phuket and soon to be Surat Thani.

Another disaster waiting to happen.

Sorry Mr Mayor, but without the local population of Pattaya getting to 70% vaccinated, there's no way it's safe for foreigners to come here. And they won't come if it's still dangerous here. BTW, farangs are part of the local population and none of those people will take the Chinese vaccine. I'd recommend locking down the city, vaccinating as many locals, and after a month on from their second shot, consider opening Pattaya.

Ahhh Sinovac...beware chinese bearing gifts goes the old saying

As far as Patts opening Im sure just putting up police tape at city limits will work just fine

Just keep an eye out for the 83 yr old grandpa that already tried to meet up with his Thai friendly gal
