50 million more doses of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine and an unspecified amount of Moderna vaccine are likely to be purchased by Thailand, to address the continual surge in infections and deaths, according to Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul yesterday (Sunday).

 

Mr. Anutin has assigned Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) Secretary-General Paisal Dunkhum to arrange meetings with representatives of the manufacturers of the vaccines already approved by the TFDA for procurement, especially the mRNA Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

 

The vaccine brands approved by the TFDA include Sinovac, Sinopharm, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer. Thailand is currently administering the first three.

too late, you messed up already, you can publish this stuff daily for the next 6 months it won't make any difference, there is no way to recover from that

 

why not do the right thing

When you say 50 million more...what is "more"...you haven't got the first lot yet.

 

And when you say "likely to be purchased", what does that mean? Purchase or not purchase?

 

Surely "Mr. Anutin has assigned" would be better served by "Mr. Anutin has assumed all responsibility and will personally manage"

 

And when you say "to arrange meetings with representatives of the manufacturers", does that mean you haven't met them yet, or you don't have them on speed dial?

 

So many words that say almost nothing.

50 million doses more by Q4 or somewhere next year will surely lower the current outbreak.

an urgent letter he could write in 5 days.. Purchases of vaccinations will take at least 6 months with al approval, check, readings by lawyers, commissionars looking at it and other delays So probably for the second half of next year

Yeah but they're still the best bet.

Look at the UK. Yeah, a lot of covid cases but look at the deaths... almost none. So far the UK is doing amazing.

Sure, another strain might come out & avoid pfizer & moderna... but atm you gotta do what you can

Meanwhile we are getting jabbed with the first three that are, as it turns out,  worth a sack of warm <deleted>.

You get what you pay for.

By my calculations, adding up all the announcements, Thailand plans to / intends to / will purchase about 9 gazillion doses of vaccine by next week / month / quarter/ year.  It's hard to keep track.

There are multiple reasons for that. Couldn't find a cliff high enough. Traffic is slow due to Covid. No sharp knifes in the kitchen. Yeah, and so on.... I think you get it. ????

Who is in charge of making sure vaccine labels are not being switched?

Moderno is the one to have in our Social Circle  , it always gets the Awwwww lol I flew back usa last week 

I agree… there’s a lot of “expect to..” “plan to..” and “expected to..” in these types of stories.

 

While I cede that this is a good beginning, given where things are now- today, what is needed is “has arrived”, “is currently being given…” and “is now being used at..”. those are the expressions that to me are the only ones meaningful right now. 

Someday I hope to read one of these articles that actually says "Thailand HAS purchased"......
