Popular Post webfact
Zuellig Pharma, the sole distributor of Moderna vaccine in Thailand, has informed the Thai Red Cross Society (TRCS) that the company has already notified the manufacturer of the order for an additional five million doses, to be delivered next year. In a letter, dated July 18th, addressed to Dr. Phichit Siriwan, deputy director of the Relief and Community Health Bureau of the Thai Red Cross Society, Dr. Sunaiya Kitkasetpaisarn, general manager of ZP Therapeutics, explained that the first million doses of Moderna vaccine, ordered by the TRCS, had to be channeled through the Government Pharmaceutical Organization because the company could not deal directly with the TRCS. She added, however, that the company can now deal directly with the TRCS over the additional five million doses, which is now in the process of documentation preparation and contract drafting, adding that the new batch of vaccine will cover the COVID-19 variants of concern. Popular Post riverhigh
Absolute joke. The first million doses had to be ordered through GPO but now the next 5 million doses can be ordered directly from Zuellig/Moderna without the assistance (I use the word very loosely) from the GPO. All this messing around has resulted in the Moderna doses being shipped to Thailand sometime next year. Too little, too late. Now, all of a sudden, an organization other than the GPO can order vaccines directly from a distributor. What changed? And who paid for the initial 1.1 mm doses TRC skimmed off the 5 mm private hospital order? And who is paying for these next 5 mm TRC doses. And who will get these? (Rhetorical) Honestly, the levels of incompetence, non-transparency and corruption are reaching dizzying heights. In the future, the tales of fortunes skimmed during this time will be the stuff of legend. And new family dynasties will have been established. Dustdevil
What are people paying to get vaccinated in Thailand? (I visited the country about 50 times until 2018 but haven't lived there). A friend in the Philippines says it's about $150 there. And they only have Astrazeneca and Sinovac. Edited July 26, 2021 by Dustdevil

Popular Post alexlm
69 million Thailand Citizens. 5 million doses. 2.5 million people being able to get the vaccine since you need 2 doses, right? Let's say 2 million if they <deleted> up part of the dilutions and/or do not respect the storage temperatures and very precise instructions. 2 million Thai vaccinated is not much for almost 70 million people. Or am I mistaken somewhere? Edited July 26, 2021 by metisdead Profanity removed. 11

Sinopharm is available from a Royal research academy and is said to be priced at 888 baht per dose. Edited July 26, 2021 by mtls2005

Instead of using all means possible to get effective vaccines in a timely manner into Thailand they have interfered at every opportunity to slow the process down and be in total control. Unfortunately this has come at a cost to many businesses, and ultimately peoples lives. 11

Surasak
A very much needed clarification of the Moderna doses availability. Will the doses which were supposed to be delivered for October this year, and in many cases have been paid for up front, still be available? Or are we now expected to wait until sometime next year, with all the problems and dangers that will cause? 1
Popular Post spidermike007
If they had any vision at all, they would have simplified the process to begin with, in order to speed up the procurement process. It is an odd concept known as proficiency and a sense of urgency. Instead? Bungling, and more bungling, resulting in delays, and being placed into the back of the que. Thailand continues to shoot itself in the foot, and these delays are resulting in more sabotage to the economy, tourism and the lives of the common man. No wonder suicide rates are dramatically higher this year. Where is the sense of hope? All faith has been lost in this bumbling administration. Prayuth and Anutin should do the right thing and both resign in disgrace. After all, he did make himself the Czar. Of a failed campaign.

Hmmm. Yes, no, maybe. Subscriptions and payments were oversubscribed, the extent of which is vague. Could be 9 mm (seen estimated from ~ 6 mm up to 9-ish mm) doses paid, from 3.9 mm available. Could be October (think trick or treat). Could be Christmas. 1

Thailand expanded its capacity with a new cold chain room last year. Its total cold chain capacity now spans 4,070 square metres. All rooms are equipped with primary and secondary temperature alarms for enhanced product safety. https://www.thaipr.net/en/general_en/3002757

Don't jinx it, the TRC might produce another card/brown envelope for the 5 million, now 4 million doses of Moderna that are scheduled for October and take the lot, with those of us who have already paid left even more susceptible and have to wait till next year when the additional 5 million Moderna vaccines arrive to get the jab. Hope this doesn't happen and hope we aren't one of the 1 million to miss out of the doses they literally stole from right under our noses.

Or, maybe not? Council of Ministers, aka the Cabinet, aka The Government. TRC has a MASSIVE budget, so I guess they can afford to pay for their Moderna allotment.
