BANGKOK (NNT) - AstraZeneca today confirmed that it delivered 5.3 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to the Ministry of Public Health in July, as part of an ongoing commitment to deliver 61 million doses to Thailand as soon as possible.

The July deliveries meet AstraZeneca’s projections which show that over with uninterrupted manufacturing, the company can supply between five and six million doses a month to Thailand.

As of the end of July, AstraZeneca has delivered a total of 11.3 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to Thailand, and the company has started delivering to nearby countries from its Thailand supply chain.

James Teague, Country President, AstraZeneca (Thailand) Ltd., said: “Our partner Siam Bioscience is performing amongst the strongest in our worldwide manufacturing network, operating at full capacity and delivering to the highest quality standards. Where possible, we will collaborate with them to deliver vaccines faster. We are proud to be working with Siam Bioscience and helping to take the people of Thailand on the path to recovery as quickly as possible by supporting the country’s mass vaccination program.”

The vaccine is around 80%-90% effective against severe disease and hospitalisation and is highly effective against all variants of concern, including Beta and Delta. Overall safety is comparable to other vaccines. Very rare thrombotic events can be treated with early diagnosis and there is no increased risk of very rare thrombotic events after the second dose.

AstraZeneca continues to supply its COVID-19 vaccine globally at no profit during the pandemic period.

So, overall about 9 millions vaccines were delivered in July.

Were 9 million Thais vaccinated?  Or about 300,00 per day?

Cool that they now know how much vaccine they shipped. ????

It's August now.

Tell us what you're going to do for us THIS MONTH.

How many (to thailand) from AZ globally & how many from SB?

according to some journalists some 500k were imported from korea in June.

It says they will supply between 5-6 million doses per month.

It's going to be a slow roll out.  All those getting their first shot in June will be getting their second dose in September.  That means if the supply stays the same it will only be people getting their second shot that month.   Same for the month after that.

AZ Thailand has the very same problem that all the Vaccine manufacturers have.

The process require a certain amount of what they call" seeding " time to grow cultures Etc.

Not  all the batches that are seeded produce the very same amount of culture that can be used in production.

Therefore the exact amount of actual Vaccines that leave the Facility is never known in advance.

If AZ and BS have produced and delivered 11.2 million doses for June and July combined, they will be keeping to the promised 35% of production as the delivery that Thailand is entitled too under Contract.

Oh the irony.

I read that under the original contract that the government only ordered 3 million doses monthly. Had they ordered 6 million monthly or more as is proving necessary then I feel that AZ would have insisted that the production capacity be larger to fulfill commitments to other Asian countries too.
