From memory, an article in the BP said the stock went up 13+% immediately after the announcement of the procurement. It was also reported that Dr Boon’s wife had purchased 950,000 shares in the company in the week preceding.

What a way to gain some coin and then sell it quickly before it drops, manipulation by fake news to serve two purposes it seems.

How about Prayuth and Anutin for their fake news ?

Oh no, sorry, they are part of the untouchable, incompetent Government !

Like masks and social distancing, "fake news" only applies to the general public.

Yes the stock popped, you can look at a chart on SET.

Regarding the spouse.

According to the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) securities and derivatives holding reports (Form 59), required when executives trade their own shares, Jaruwan Vanasin, Dr Boon's spouse, reportedly purchased 950,000 THG shares in eight separate transactions during July 2-13, at prices ranging from 28.50 to 29.50 baht per share. This was before Dr Boon disclosed to BBC Thai the company is purchasing 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccines from BioNTech on July 14.

She holds 118 MILLION shares, so 950,000 represents 0.8% (less than 1%) of her holdings.

Another spurious inference. Just can't help yourself?

Currently trading just below 28. So she's lost money. She is the second a largest shareholder.

All over the morning news.  It appears the good tycoon has definitely stepped in the doodoo and with the new law created by the Prime Minister he is being charged with providing fake news.  Even if he had the good intentions to purchase the vaccine for sale through his hospital group (THB), and it was truly real news, getting the hopes of people up and driving your stock price up, seems to also be an issue when he could not pull off the purchase, therefore it reads as fake news for personal gain.

Fauci hopes Pfizer vaccine will get full FDA approval in weeks

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/fauci-hopes-pfizer-vaccine-full-002400130.html

After full US  FDA   approval  the Pfizer vacccine can be sold on the open market like any other drug like Amoxacillan, Tylenol  ect. Then he can order and say sorry for the delay.

Yeah, assuming he's operating hospitals in the U.S.A.

The Thai FDA? Beer held.

Seems you didn't understand my post. Once Pfizer or Moderna or any other Covid Vaccine is taken off the emergency use only  athorization list and is a fully aproved drug  ANY hospital  anywhere in the world could order it as it would no longer be classed as for emergency use only. As of now only Governments can order the drug. When Pfizer is reclassed as a regular drug any hospital in Thailand or else where can order it.    He doesn't need to be associated with any hospital or company in the US.

Unfortunately, the fake news stuff only relates to us, and the average Thai. It does not relate on any level to the police, immigration, customs, this administration, the senate, or the super rich. They are all above the law. Any and all laws. Prayuth was installed to protect them all, so the only ones who are in peril, are us and the common Thai.

He told reporters: “I believed there was no negotiation because the Pfizer representatives would only make a trading agreement in the state-to-state condition and there were five government agencies that are allowed to do so. And many of these agencies have denied making any procurement contract of Pfizer Vaccines with Dr. Boon.”

That might not actually be factual. There is a possibility that some in the health field may have tried to bypass the government regulations, once they saw how massively they had failed. Why not defy them? Massive incompetence, sabotage, and an unwillingness to do right by the people, simply invites all kinds of civil disobedience.

From the OP as above: There were five authorized government importing agencies and "many" have denied such negotiations. Many -- not ALL?

Nah. Think it's the reverse.

There is a Thai FDA, and they've classified all vaccines for EU only.

If the U.S. FDA approves a vaccine for general use that means nothing for Thailand.

Yes, the Thai FDA might follow suit, but maybe not for 3 - 6 months.

It is my understanding that until the Thai FDA approves a vaccine for general use, all vaccines must pass through the government, or a Royally approved research academy.

Deal announced on 16 July, signed 20 July.

Thailand signs contract for 20 million Pfizer jabs

https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40003497

No one is accusing you of spreading fake news, but...

"The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been registered with Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration since June 24, and deliveries are expected to kick off in the fourth quarter of this year."

Maybe you ought to be following up with those "locals"?

The regime also announced an interest in procuring another 10 mm doses of Pfizer.

So you are saying that the OP is fake news then?  From your link it says 'Thailand will order...' does not mean they have ordered. Also from Asia Pacific dated Aug. 4. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thai-hospital-tycoon-who-promised-pfizer-vaccine-says-deal-now-unlikely-2021-08-04/ so maybe you ought to keep up to date eh?

Interesting twist...

Govt calls in private sector to import 25m jabs as outbreak worsens

Facing a Delta-driven outbreak of more than 20,000 cases daily, and barely 6 per cent of the population fully vaccinated, Thailand is finally handing its private sector the means to import vaccines directly.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, as head of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA), on August 1 assigned private companies and a working group to import 20-25 million doses of alternative vaccines by the third quarter this year for rapid inoculation.

The vaccines, including Sputnik V and Johnson & Johnson (J&J), will be imported directly without the involvement of government agencies. Up till now, almost all of Thailand’s vaccine has been procured by Public Health Ministry agencies, namely the Department of Disease Control, National Vaccine Institute and the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO).

With the spike in the share price, caused by said news, there should be plenty of money to pay for any successful prosecution's resulting in a fine.
