Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, Chairman of the Crime Victims’ Assistance Club, has filed a complaint against the President of Thonburi Healthcare Group (THG), Dr. Boon Vanasin, for allegedly sharing fake news of the THG’s Pfizer vaccine procurement.

Atchariya reported to the CyberCrime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) that he personally believed that neither Dr. Boon nor the Thonburi Healthcare Group had contacted and negotiated with related Pfizer representatives to import 20 million doses of the mRNA vaccines.

He told reporters: “I believed there was no negotiation because the Pfizer representatives would only make a trading agreement in the state-to-state condition and there were five government agencies that are allowed to do so. And many of these agencies have denied making any procurement contract of Pfizer Vaccines with Dr. Boon.”

So AR doesn't know for sure but believes. OK.

Whom can you believe ?

Certainly not even ' official ' channels of the government ...

Thailand , the hub of fake news ?

Good morning TAT .

I'd slap him with a Defamation Suit.

All over the morning news.  It appears the good tycoon has definitely stepped in the doodoo and with the new law created by the Prime Minister he is being charged with providing fake news.  Even if he had the good intentions to purchase the vaccine for sale through his hospital group (THB), and it was truly real news, getting the hopes of people up and driving your stock price up, seems to also be an issue when he could not pull off the purchase, therefore it reads as fake news for personal gain.

Not sure this qualifies as a crime? He certainly hasn't been charged with this.

Spurious claim. Buyers drive the price of a stock up. And all CEO's try to present their company's prospects in the best possible light.

He's been charged with "Fake News".

THG is in the health-care business, not the vaccination business.

All he has to show is that is made one single call to, or had one meeting, where discussions were held to try and secure Pfizer. Then this suit goes outt he window.

Colossal waste of time.

He pushed on the regime too hard.

I wonder if there are candidates amongst the "favoured ones" who have raised the "influence" to take over the business? It is clearly profitable.

What about all those that registered with THG and paid their money for the 2 jabs... what's their come back, or have I just wasted some of my cyber ink?

You paid for Moderna, not Pfizer

When does TAT get fined for fake news?

I'm sure it's all just a mis-understanding and will be sorted out, without fines or jail time.

When snow falls in Thailand.

I believe people paid up front for the Moderna vaccine... nothing to do with Pfizer

Anutin had a case filed and accepted against him on the day this law was published

Speaking one of the locals yesterday evening he was saying how good it was that 20 million Covid doses were on their way, because the country need them badly. When I told him that the vaccine wouldn't be coming he shook his head and didn't believe me. Wonder how many others believed it too? Saw the chap this morning and he admitted I was right but he said nothing else. He is retired army NCO so probably didn't want say anything that might affect him and his family.

No doubt the knives are out for Dr. Boon.

The regime dicked around on buying vaccines for eons. Epic fail.

They were talking to both Pfizer and Moderna (separate from the AZ thing) for 3 ~ 4 months, with no progress.

Private hospitals led by the TPHA (of which THG is a member) organized a push to purchase Moderna. The regime stone-walled them, with the GPO leading the way, until finaly public pressure forced the regime to relent. And GPO or some other government concern purchased Moderna from Zuellig.

Dr. Boon was critical of the GPO for their lack of progress on this matter.

Then, a few days later, the GPO filed charges against Dr. Boon.

Fast forward to July. The regime has been in talks with Pfizer for months, no progress. Dr. Boon announces ( ~ 16 July) he's in talks to secure 20 mm doses of Pfizer. Four days later the regime inks a deal with Pfizer for 20 mm doses.

Timing.

Did Pfizer use the THG talks as leverage to move the regime to issue a PO?

Look, I'm not making Dr, Boon out to be Mother Teresa, nor do I doubt that he is motivated in part by profit (who isn't?) but he has tried to move the ball forward, while the regime can't even find the ball. If he gets more people vaccinated, via the paid option, I don't care how much money he makes for himself or his shareholders.

The regime cannot defend their performance battling COVID, nor can they stand on their record of vaccines and vaccinations, so they need to make sure no one else can either.

No one is accusing you of spreading fake news, but...

"The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has been registered with Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration since June 24, and deliveries are expected to kick off in the fourth quarter of this year."

Maybe you ought to be following up with those "locals"?

The regime also announced an interest in procuring another 10 mm doses of Pfizer.

Why  bother with the defamatiom suit, surely the slaps  enough

so now something you announced you were trying to do that doesnt work out is fake news?

Well, here we go again .... now it is "sue each other to the end of the world" time again!

The "government-to-government" deal only works, if at both ends you have professionals. In other cases, the MOPH/FDA approves a medicine (or food) and then imports, against proper paperwork and spot checks are permitted also by the private industry.

As tanks and submarines are less in demand by the general public ............ you can let this piece of juicy meat on the bone to the hungriest of 'em all .........

Yeah, using this metric the regime is straight-up hosed.

Starting with "There will not be a coup.", through "We're granting ourselves infinite immunity for any crimes we committed in the past or will commit in the future".

Indeed. Whatever the details, it appears he had vaccines on the way, while the govt could not. Tremendous loss of face.

But for whatever reason, the govt could easily get their hands on the Chinese vaccines and their questionable efficacy. Even my HS students know what's up. They tell me, why only the Chinese vaccines, and not the good ones? Because maybe there's something to be gained from one, and not the other?

Yet all the while, cases continue to go up, and people are dying.

nothing a couple of brown envelopes wont fix

I hope he is treated exactly the same as a farang would be.

About time some equality was served up.

Especially with fines...

why do you persist with these scatalogical references

Was it just to raise the stock price in the company?

Or is it more likely that the government didn't want to help procure quality vaccines as it would make them look more inept than they already are?
