A police box was set ablaze last night after a day of protests on the streets of Bangkok turned violent yesterday evening in the Din Daeng area of the Thai capital.

 

Rubber bullets, tear gas and water cannon were deployed by police.

 

Earlier protesters in cars and on motorcycles had gone to a number of key sites associated with politicians.

 

This included the Sino Thai Engineering HQ belonging to health minister Anutin Charnvirakul's wealthy family and the home of Palang Pracharat party leader Capt Thammanat Prompao.

 

Daily News reported that protesters later withdrew to the area near the Victory Monument before police with loud hailers persuaded them to go home lest they be arrested for contravening the emergency decree and curfew.

The people are angry, and they have every right on the world to be so. They are angry at the army, and they are angry at the puppet, super corrupt cops. They also have every right in the world to express that anger, despite an oppressive regime making criticism of themselves, and their massive failures illegal. Are they using Kim, or Xi's playbook? 

 

Kudos to the people. This will only continue, until the heinous army relinquishes their power, and follows the will of the people. Their support base in down to the last 2% of the population, at this point. They have failed their people on every conceivable level. They must go. Get out. Get out now Prayuth. You are toxic. 

Surely protesting peacefully in large numbers is better than protesting violently.  Gandi comes to mind.

Good that they are not called activists for democracy or something like that anymore.

 

People who really want to improve Thailand should know that fighting with the police is a stupid and useless idea.

I hope every arsonist will be arrested and jailed for years. And they obviously they should pay for the damage which they did.

No doubt the government is not popular at all but I am pretty sure he pulled those numbers out of thin air. There is still a substantial minority supporting the government. There is no doubt in my mind that they would lose an election but also no doubt in my mind that far more then 2% of the population would vote for them.

You really are quite pathetic, you somebody with all the benefit of a western education condoning a puppet government that has clearly outstayed it's welcome and left the populace with no other choice, shocking really...

The thing was an eyesore anyway and the air-conditioning didn't work.

Any protest is better than no protest, at this point. The govt. deserves all the flak, criticism, complaints, non-cooperation, and resistance we can muster up.

But in the topic of Kratom you were saying breaking the law is breaking the law. Why such a split personality ?

 

Its a stupid law that they cant protest but its the law. Like you made so clear in that topic that breaking the law no matter what should be punished.

 

Not that I don't agree with you about the protests but its strange that you have such a dual view on things. On one side you want people to be prosecuted because they broke the law even though its changed now and on the other hand your now condoning protesters breaking the law.

So pulled out of thin air. Do you really think that its now 2% i highly doubt it. I don't doubt at all that they will lose an election but would not be surprised if they still got 20-30% of votes.

No split personality from me I believe you and likeminded folk have stood by and by your support made this happen, many may get a criminal record from this and I reckon they will wear it like a medal

 

I don't have an issue with people getting a criminal record but the flip flop of it's a crime, no it's not a crime is a symptom of this lot...

Totally agree we know we cannot mention or have news articles on the elusive one, but since this is a news site, major events such as protests should take priority over daily nonsense government press statements or daft surveys  questioning the demise of tourism in a world wide pandemic completely mis managed by the Junta.

later on another 2 police boxes were torched, around the victory monument, where protesters retreated.

But protest officially ended at 17:30. Still many people remained till 9pm.

Protests now look like every 2-3 days. Different groups, also in provinces.

The main purpose is exposure, how inefficient vax program is and how corrupt are officials involved

What is the point of those protesters? What is the point of fighting with the police and starting fires?

There is no point except creating chaos and bad news. Now we can all guess which criminal fugitive wants that.

 

If people want a better government then why don't they suggest better leaders? Where are those brilliant leaders who are honest and work for the people? Where?

Peaceful protests have been going on for a while . Now , with covid situation , economic downfall ,submarines for nobody , people are getting less peaceful and start showing their anger . Peaceful protest do work to a certain degree , beyond a certain point , then only violence can take over ( nobody wants that , just a fact ) . I certainly do hear now more dislike in present day government , with people who weren't into politics before , so it certainly is spreading . Idk current number , but the army does have a large/strong base , and as long as that stays in place there is no chance of anything changing .

I know lots of people who don't like Prayut and they don't like Thaksin even more. And all of them think there is no point now to have these stupid protests and spread Covid even more.

More protesters with Covid, more police with Covid, more traffic jams, fires, etc. - for what?

What are they protesting over ?

That's a very optimistic view of a potential outcome.

 

I'd suggest it's far more likely a coup will put an end to protests and you can be sure the next PM installed will take whatever steps required to make sure he never looses power.

unfortunately the current government will not (never) loose with the current constitution whereby they already have the majority of the house votes/seats, in order to expect their loss the constitution has to be amended/corrected and allow for fair and democratic elections.... I know, I know, wishful thinking
