Not only your country this is what the Scottish SNP have now put forward

Scotland will let pupils change gender aged FOUR without their parents' consent - and tells teachers not to question a child's request to choose a new name or use a different toilet

The Scottish government says school children aged four can change gender

Young pupils wishing to switch gender must be supported and listened to

The newly implemented guidance has been described as 'shocking'

Schools have been told to have transgender books on their curriculum

My son has recently gone through the registration process with a university in the US. He was presented with a questionnaire asking him what gender he wished to identify as and a list of pronouns to choose from. He could even submit his own pronoun if he wished.

We discussed for a few minutes making up an absolutely absurd pronoun and requesting it, but decided against it as we feared the request would be taken seriously.

  • 3 weeks later...

With today's tech, it would be simple enough to designate XX, XY, Other.

You can change your identity, you can get surgically altered, but you'll always be XX, XY or Other.

Then, they need to make up school sports teams based on XX or XY.  Not on some selection de jour to win scholarship money unfairly.  The Olympics?  They can do what they want.  Don't care...

Edit:  It would also be pretty easy to assign a SSN and digitize (for example) a thumbprint on the Birth Certificate, to make it tougher to steal someone's identity or vote illegally.  But I haven't thought through all the ramifications for digitizing the thumbprint.  Not my job...  And I'm glad it's not.

Perhaps the designation on the form that gets filled out at birth should be "genital appearance" accompanied by two drawings, one of a weenie, another of a gash.  Add to that "If neither of these, take a photo of crotch area and attach to form."

On a somewhat related note, the guy who was the baby on the cover of the Nirvana album Nevermind  30 years ago (pic is a naked baby boy swimming after a dollar bill, and you can see he is what in olden days was considered a "boy") is now suing whoever he can for using him to make child pornography.

As one comedian put it "if he thinks people will be able recognize him from that picture today then the guy really does have a problem."
