A group of lawyers representing TV personailty Nawat Issarakraisin and seven others charged Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha with severe misconduct and dishonesty in the handling of the pandemic.

Narnpong Jinaphak - one of the leading lawyers - was armed with a petition signed by 700,000 people who say they are victims of the PM's misdeeds.

The case was accepted by the Central Criminal Court for Corruption and Misconduct Cases on Nakhon Chaisri Road, central Bangkok, yesterday, reported Naew Na.

The court will be considering the case and announcing its findings on August 30th at 9 am.

The cases relate to Article 165 and the Criminal Code 157.

Nawat has claimed that as a direct result of the PM's actions he has lost his TV presenter job that he had done for 25 years and millions of baht.

He made his decision to prosecute the PM when in bed suffering from Covid-19.

Probably not, but it is always good to remind them that they will be held responsible for their actions. And it also gives them a taste of what will happen when they lose the next election. Hence why

To be fair, he has more experience of procuring and distributing pharmaceuticals than a construction magnate.

Probably coincide with the declaration of freedom from prosecution of the PM and his allies for ALL the covid mess

Probably not, but it is always good to remind them that they will be held responsible for their actions. And it also gives them a taste of what will happen when they lose the next election. Hence why they are already trying to protect themselves with their nonsense Amnesty bill.

Let's see if the boys in yellow or the boys in green have the upper hand.

I would hold m breath, Prayut is on the way out whether he likes it or not.

It was decided for him and this is why his latest new law was over turned by the courts and this time round will most likely find him guilty and removed from his post, paving the way for already chosen new golden boy to take the post.

All fark ups over the past 18-19 months will be attributed to Prayut and because he was punished, it would be like having a fresh start. First will hear the excuses how time is needed to fix Prayuts fark ups and then  new golden boy will save the day

if I remember correctly, not to long ago (1-2 weeks ago Prayut and his cronies were putting forward a law protecting all of them from any potential law suits against their poor or non performing decisions regarding the covid19 pandemic

(I did try to find the link here a Asean now but it didn't show up, maybe some of you have better luck)

So a scenario is out there floating around that could see a former convicted drug smuggler in charge of vaccine acquirement.

I wonder how many Moderna vaccines you can squeeze into a diplomatic bag or two.

Drug smuggling, it's all lies - just ask him and  he will fully inform you of the facts ????

A convicted drug smuggler in charge of drug procurement, now that must rate as a world winning joke.

Forgone conclusion I'd say...but we can also hope for a better outcome...

he is probably the best thing that could have happened in thailand in regards the covid virus, he slowed the roll of a questionable vaccine at the least and probably saved countless lives. And all for a vaccine that is questionable in regards to its effectiveness and predisposition to cause variants

Thailand is more funny than The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

That’ll wind him up. It’d be a start to have him out but it’ll just end up more of the same. You want them all out. Armies cannot run countries!

If you’re talking about AZ, it has saved tens of millions while killing few, if any, directly. Back in your cage.

Now if I cast my mind back I remember what Yingluck was sentenced to 5 years for :

Former Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has been found guilty of criminal negligence and sentenced in absentia to five years in prison.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-41410047

That Cost a lot of money. Question now is.

Has Prayuth  been negligent in acquiring vaccines and what is it costing .

Nope, the general is squeaky clean, if there is any doubt we can fix that easily.

It was withdrawn.

One must wonder if he is going to pick up his pieces and hand out with Taksin for the rest of his days. This sounds like a time when a sworn enemies becomes allies. ????

Would actually be great too see them on a news photo lying their teeth off over two pints of beer.

I agree with you that Prayut may well be out soon. However, nothing bad will ever happen to him. He has well served his masters and the whole network, by implementing a system and a constitution which guarantees that political parties opposed to the yellow/green network will not be able to govern effectively.

There will be a face saving solution, I.e. Prayut will be promoted where you know and someone from the same network will replace him.

Are you feeling ok? You have to be joking? He slowed the roll of a questionable Vaccine ( Sinovac). The truth is he accelerated it. Bought more after a study came out saying Sinovac after second jab was losing 50% of antibodies every 40 days after second jab .https://thethaiger.com/coronavirus/study-shows-antibodies-drop-by-50-every-40-days-after-2-doses-of-sinovac This explained why hundreds of  healthcare workers were coming up Covid positive. You say he saved lives. I say just the opposite. He waited months after the second wave hit to start thinking about ordering vaccines. His health minister famously said in April that cases had peaked and that Thailand would be safe. Boy was he wrong. Today we sit just under 1 million infected and closing in on 7000 dead. Please show evidence that vaccines cause variants. I need a good laugh

The amnesty concept, even if it does become legislation, is easily reversed immediately after the next coup or the next election, whichever comes first.

The mere fact that the relevant court has accepted the petition for consideration shows how the wind direction is changing.

And my b/f assures me that the Yellow Shirts' yellow shirts are steadily turning pink ...

Are they asking for compensation ????

Alleged mishandling? That is sure an attempt at diplomacy. How can anyone call this anything other that completely botched, mishandled, incapable leadership, stupidity, malfeasance, neglect and lack of vision, on any level? The extent to which the handling of this has failed is historic, and if you were a supporter of this tiny man before, how on earth could yo still believe in him now?

He has to go. Get out now Prayuth! You are not liked, you are despised! You are not wanted, you are not needed, and you are the worst possible leader for this nation, at this time.

When amnesty for Thaksin was suggested, oh my, that threw the country into a fever-storm from which it has never recovered.

Amnesty for the regime? Sure, why not.

Assume there is no Thai word for "Shame"?

Indeed he did serve his purpose but also managed to make someone look bad and that someone is not known for being very forgiving .

Making Prayut a scapegoat is a perfect face saving solution and because he is hated by so many, punishing him will please the masses , making that someone look good again ????
