You specifically stating that these Thai people are concerned about it "only doing harm to Thailand's image", is the ludicrous aspect of it. The Thai people know what is actually "doing harm to Thailand's image".
roamer
It's going to be interesting when the tourists return and get shot, gassed or otherwise injured because they had the effrontery to go shopping or get on the Skytrain. I think most of us accept this isn't just going to go away, trying to predict how it will end brings up so many scenarios. A Berlin Wall moment with so many people on the streets ? I remember a border guard being interviewed years later about why they had not opened fire and his reply was that the order never came because those further up the chain of command feared being held responsible for a massacre and they knew the game was up for East Germany. He went on to say that if the order had come through he and others would have disobeyed it because they were as done with the regime as the protestors.
