The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of Brunei responded to questions on social media about foreign-registered vehicles entering the country during the Covid-19 pandemic, the enforcement of Vehicle Pass Stickers, and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for foreign nationals entering the country in foreign-registered vehicles.

The PMO stated that on October 1, 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunication (MTIC) through the Land Transport Department (JPD) enforced the use of Vehicle Pass Stickers to identify foreign-registered vehicles as one of the measures to control foreign-registered vehicles within the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Foreign-registered vehicles (for private individuals) that have gained authorization from the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) to reside in this nation for duties or similar purposes are given blue vehicle pass stickers.

Meanwhile, foreign-registered commercial vehicles entering Brunei for the purpose of transferring agricultural goods, agri-food, and fisheries are issued red vehicle pass stickers with approval from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT).

According to precise statistics on Vehicle Pass Sticker applications as of August 14 this year, there were 2,277 applications for the blue sticker and 117 applications for the red sticker, totaling 2,394 applications.

A total of 2,310 applications were authorised for the blue sticker, with 2,209 for the blue sticker and 101 for the red sticker.

In this regard, JPD has ensured that all privately-owned foreign-registered vehicles would only receive stickers after receiving appropriate RCED authorization.
