Twenty-one people arrested in Soi Buakhao area for allegedly gathering, drinking alcohol, and breaking Covid-19 rules

Can have up to 5 people together, if no one is drinking.

Can only drink alone.

Those are the rules in Chonburi.

So, if the police catch me drinking in Chonburi with another person in my place, should I be deported?

Wow, was not aware of that & it's crazy rule that says it's ok for the 5 of you to sit there eating food/drinking non-alcoholic drinks together yet not ok to drink alcohol, but them's the rules so it's up to us to follow them or risk the consequencies.

FWIW, I don't think you (or these guys) should be deported for a single offence but if people are repeatedly caught breaking the rules then I can see immigration making an example of somebody by deporting them.

As I understand it, Immigration can deport anybody convicted by the courts of a criminal offence as it breaches the terms of their permission to stay in Thailand, I'm not saying Immigration would or should in instances like this, I'm just saying that they could & might do so to set an example.

  • too bad if just walking past with a water in your hand not sure if drinking a beer on your own is strictly illegal either, this is pushing rules to abuse levels, then they pile them all into vehicles

  • if actaul rules are being broken then yes - fine them    not clear to me what rules are being broken since there are market stalls right along that footpath - from the video it looks to me l

Gatherers gathering at Future Park this morning, for their vaccine. But I guess this doesn't count as a gathering ????

Are they sitting together for multiple hours in close contact with no mask? Not even close to the same thing. But if you haven't been able to understand this after 1.5 years of covid, probably a waste of time trying to explain it.

I'd say that there is a 55% Thai majority to foreigner ratio sitting there nightly.

So, my question is.... are thai girls just must faster?  They left in the dust 18 old guys.  The 3 that got caught must have been passed out drunk lol

Allegedly gathering…..another degenerate and habit-forming practice brought to Thailand by those rascally foreigners.

Did you forget the article about the 22 Thais they caught yesterday. Its not a farang witch hunt just going after people breaking lockdown rules to go to bars or have parties.

Stop wasting time arresting people having a drink, why not spend more time in vaccinating faster which is the solution in getting rid of the virus. Why vaccination is so slow in Thailand?

having groups of cheap charlies p_issing up will not solve anything, especially covid19 virus transmission to others.

10,000 baht fine seems reasonable.

would it be a drama if they infected a family member and he/she died.

For once we're on the same page, Steveo. As my old army dad used to say, "You're not being punished for doing the deed, lad, you're being punished for being caught!

Bangkok Jack is reporting three year sentences. Sounds like North Korea. Can't wait to be free of this place.

They have been to court already? On a weekend?

They government needs to start cancelling visas. Thailand would be so much nicer with about 2/3rds less falang there.

The two.are not mutually exclusive. The whole point is to slow the spread of covid until vaccinations occur.

Gotta be stupid ....

Cleanest city I've ever been to.

I used to work there. You should see the rats at the hawker areas at night when they are closed, big as cats.

Check the Bangkok Jack post. I am not doing your research for you.

Because the nurses have a deal with the police..... they don't arrest people, and the police don't give vaccinations or bed-baths.

They arrested mainly farangs and ignored the Thais who were also breaking rules on the principle that you can squeeze more money out of farangs.  Remember this is Pattaya Plod who have been strangling local businesses for years.

What has what others do got to do with breaking rules? Why even mentioning it?

When Pattaya gets an enema, Soi Buakhao is where they will put the tube.

The Bangkok Jack article relates to a bunch of Thais recently arrested in Din Daeng.  Took all of 30 seconds to figure this out.

https://bangkokjack.com/2021/08/21/jail-term-going-party/

I wonder how many of them are members here, anyone missing that would normally be posting in a Pattaya thread ????????

Plenty of them always saying on here that there's action to be had if you know where to go, ????????

Not content with the alleged rule breaking the perpetrators blatantly commit another violation by traveling from the scene in the rear tray of a pickup truck! You've gone too far this time Sir Percy! ????

Deport  Deport  Deport

Agree but that is only 3 of them.

This makes me think how popular Nikom Court was with older expats. Get your own beer out of the fridge and watch the World go by on soi bukao.

Did they all just move 100m up the road?

Was drinking there last april then it stopped I got out of thailand.

Why anybody stays in pattaya now beggers my belief, but if you choose you got to follow the rules.

Deport might effect an income support to a thai family athorities will factor this possiblity.

Now and in Lanzarote drinking eating in a bar last night so normal now everything opened but not as packed as before, slowly returning

"calls from 'concerned citizens'"... that sounds all too familiar for anyone originating from Austria, Germany etc. ????

Really sad to see that media & governments heated up fear and social divide even in the former 'land of the free', happy faces and social harmony, Thailand.

A question for the moralists: if I invite another person to my condo for a drink, should I be deported?

Expand

if you drink in your room with a friend then that's fine

No. Actually, that's forbidden too.

No more than 1 person if drinking alcohol.

2 friends, or ever husband and wife, drinking at home is also banned.

But what would be really nice is if the police would "follow the rules".

Because it's selective application of the Law.

In other words, racial discrimination.
