BANGKOK, Aug 25 (TNA) – The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will consider the relaxation of COVID-19 control measures this Friday.

 

CCSA assistant spokesperson Dr Apisamai Srirangson said the operation committee of CCSA would discuss weaker disease control measures Aug 26 and propose its decision to CCSA chaired by the prime minister on the following day.

 

The operation committee would consider comprehensive information and CCSA would discuss the issue at 9am on Aug 27, she said.

This train looks unstoppable, fully opened soon is now inevitable - lots of pre announcements of opening up. Seem almost like they have a crystal ball to see the future covid numbers continuing to fall - or some other method.

 

I do not agree/disagree with opening up, just an observation of a pattern I am seeing. In any event until we (my family and I here in Issan) are vaccinated (twice with a non-CCP vaccine) I will continue to observe our own version of a "lock down".

A few shops that are closed???  What about bars, nightclubs, resturants, shopping malls, gyms,parks,markets ????maybe u should look again.

Sadly very true.  More relaxed than the first wave, when things were far better.

Can they please advise us what number of daily new cases and deaths will result in them reimposing the restrictions?

Good news, in a sense, for those looking to rent or buy.......another wave of covid is now bound to occur. 

 

UK 62.7% fully vaccinated and 30,000 plus cases per day.

 

Thailand 8% fully vaccinated (many with Sinovac).........not looking good.

They haven't relaxed the restrictions yet!!  Hopefully they won't need to be reimposed once they are relaxed.

It looks to me like the Big Cheese is intent on sticking to his mid-October reopening plan, no matter what. That's six weeks away, so even in their most optimistic predictions they'll have fully vaccinated less than 20% of the population. Lifting all restrictions + low vaccination coverage = more unnecessary suffering and deaths. I just want to know at what point the Big Cheese will decide that enough is enough and close things down again. Will 500 deaths a day do the trick? Or 1,000, or double that number? It's obvious that the country is heading for yet another covid disaster, fueled by the greed and hubris of its politicians, so it's best for us mere mortals to be prepared.

Cases per day don’t matter. Never did. What matters is serious cases and deaths per day. Governments around the world have a hard time explaining why they made so much fuss about cases per day before, because it was a knee jerk reaction or worse. Nobody wants to admit that. All they know is they must open economy or face catastrophic results at next elections. Don’t hold your breath expecting logic in all of this, especially connecting cases per day before and today to governments’ actions. Governments that didn’t freak out don’t have to look this illogical and weak, Mexico is a fine example, Sweden, some others.

So if they allow 50% capacity in restaurants for vaccinated individuals - which is what the announcement is likely to be.

 

Who's gonna police it? What is acceptable documentation? What is an acceptable vaccine? Has anyone got a vaccine passport yet?

 

Some people have suggested life in Bangkok feels normal. That's true only if you stay in the suburbs, and would ordinarily be confined to your house, not venturing out much. Life for inner-city Bangkokians looks and feels very different, even compared with last year's quasi-lockdown.

For people vaccinated in Thailand, I'd assume that you'll show your vaccination status on your Mor Phrom app to the waitstaff before they seat you or take your order. The same could be done with the paper certificate, as they could scan the QR code to validate it.

 

How that would work for foreign tourists (or people vaccinated elsewhere in general) is anyone's guess. Same problem in other countries.

You must live in another city. Here in Bangkok where I live it’s a ghost town with pretty much everything closed. A little bit of street food but most shops have been closed up for months.

What foreign tourists? This whole "vaccine passport" just to eat a meal in a restaurant is practically unworkable. If restaurants open this weekend - how many fully vaccinated customers will they see vs not fully vaccinated? They can choose to either not enforce this unfair and discriminatory directive and start to recover to make money - or attempt to enforce it soon finding out that there is a lack of any fully vaccinated potential customers in Thailand - let alone lemmings that will accept this.

And what about children and those who cannot be vaccinated? Are they going to constantly pay for tests just to eat at a restaurant when chances are they are struggling economically ?

Just go back to the way it was a few months ago - not enforce some knee-jerk over precaution.

I'm going to guess that the number of restaurants that will stick to 50% capacity if additional customers show up is.......0
