No enforcement of vaccinations and Covid-19 negative tests required for businesses reopening on September for now, authorities confirm

The reopening of businesses and other easing restrictions in dark-red zone provinces are part of the new measures in order to live with the disease under the maximum self-protection principles, CCSA spokesperson Taweeslip Visanuyothin said today, August 30th.

The spokesperson clarified that the return of business operations is not the lifting of lockdown restrictions but is rather the implementation of newly arranged measures called “Smart Control and Living with COVID-19”, which had been already applied in many countries in the world in order to coexist with the disease. He stressed that the rules were not being “unlocked” or “relaxed based on case numbers” but are part of the long-term living with Covid-19 strategic plan.

The spokesperson did not mention the enforcement of the previously announced “Universal Prevention pilot program”, which states that all establishment staff and customers in “high-risk” venues like restaurants are to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, take a negative test within 72 hours, or recovered from Covid-19 within 3 months. This was stated to be a trial/pilot in dark red provinces but not “mandated” at this time due to lack of supply of rapid antigen test kits and only roughly 10% of the population fully vaccinated overall. Future enforcement, however, is possible after the trial period and has supplies and vaccinated percentages of the population increase, according to the spokesperson.

Caveat - "For now."  ????  Wait until 50% of the urban population has two shots and watch it all change.
They will implement Covid Passports.  It's too rich of an opportunity to display the Bangkok elite's power over the commoners.  They simply have to.  There is no way they can pass up this opportunity.  Authoritarianism has been historically baked into the Thai culture.  Once you reach a leadership position you have to show the public who is Boss.  The commoners need to prostrate themselves in the wake of political power.  And what use is power if you can't use it?
But if they pull the trigger on it right now?  They know they'll have a popular revolt on their hands.

There's the "at this time" again.  They won't do it in September, maybe not even October - but it's coming, you can take that to the bank.

But in many countries the people are fully vaccinated a lot more than here in Thailand and with decent vaccines... That is a different sutuation. Here in Thailand they release now a time bomb

That's a nice one. If numbers go up following the relaxation of the rules, it will be convenient to blame it on those who failed to protect themselves.

So  stand down all those who were up in arms wrt this requirement and their civil liberties!

When do we...OR THEY...ever know what's going on? Always a vague and unclear fustercluck. ????

Yes and it will provide a splendid opportunity for them to show that they _are_ the elite. Just as they don't have to wait in line for anything. Does anyone think a chap driving up in his Fazzaz [1] with his dolly-de-jour [2] and parking in a handicapped spot will actually dig out and flash his green card at the entrance? What plebe would dare to question his right to enter? [3]

Vaccine passports, either you need them or you don't: don't you know who I am? What a great chance to show off to the world how special they are as they breezily enter wherever, preferably with abundant staff bowing and perhaps a little bit of scraping.

[1] Extra points for knowing this ancient reference to Ferrari.

[2] Oh dear, is one allowed to use "dolly" in this context anymore?

[3] Anyone at what rank police and sojers get to play "know who I am" card among the big fish, say, in Thonglor?
