No special privileges for Joe Ferrari - he's in quarantine in a fan room not air-conditioning

The governor of the Phitsanuloke Central Prison refuted claims made on social media that the police colonel known as Joe Ferrari was in an air-conditioned room.

There were suggestions that the former head of the Muang district police and his six underlings were getting special treatment.

Narong Juisoei said that Thitisan Utthanaphol was being held for 21 days in quarantine as per the Covid-19 regulations.

His room and that of the other policemen had bars, CCTV and an external fan.

The man known as Joe Ferrari because of his huge collection of luxury cars had been given three blankets and a bottle of water, the same as other inmates.

He was reportedly less stressed on Sunday, reported Sanook, as he tucked into prison food.

He would undergo a further psychological assessment due yesterday.

The prison has 5,000 inmates.

The governor said that he had been contacted by the director of the corrections department as the allegations of preferential treatment hit the internet and assured him that was not the case with pictures sent to his chief.

Thai media is exploring every aspect of the case against Thitisan and the other men after Jirapong Thanaphat died in custody when plastic bags were wrapped around his head after his arrest in a drugs case near the beginning of August.

The case has caused huge public interest in Thailand.

Thai Rath reported that the high profile policeman had been unable to sleep while Bangkok Business News suggested the seven policemen were transferred to Phitsanuloke, about 140 kms from Nakhon Sawan, because they would be alongside convicts they had sent to jail if kept in Nakhon Sawan.

All seven face murder charges and have been ordered held initially for a 12 day period; an autopsy yesterday determined that asphyxiation was the cause of death of Jirapong, 24.

So he occupies a single cell and doesn't have to share the bucket in the corner with 30 other inmates and scramble for a sleeping spot? How is that NOT a privilege?

  • Stripping him of all his wordily possessions, rank and power for good will be  his worst prison he can never escape from, AC or no AC...

I doubt very much if he’s even in there.

External fan? Sounds harsh.

What a shame...

Tough luck, they are now no different from the convicts they "helped" to put away.

Well, I guess it helps to take the edge off this stressful situation when you can have a few beers and vodka chasers. Do these bars come with their own tenders?

Well I wonder whats on tap for the Bars. Johnny Walker, Singha etc... oh wait he is in a cell not a room with a bar.

What else would it have been if the "cops" in question were filmed suffocating him?!?!

Hope they don't pull an Epstein.  Found hanging by his bed sheets while the guards were slipped a mickey and the CCV camera suddenly malfunctioning, wait!  Why would Joe have bed sheets in his hot cell?  Guards looking at each other "did you give him bed sheets?  No, I thought you did.  Maybe the other shift, no need to ask.  I just found an envelope...".  RTP problem solved.

Excellent title ????

I don't believe that for 1 second. I will bet that he is getting very special treatment no way he is eating prison food either.

He has way too much info and can implicate those above him, he will be taken care of very well. You can already see how they are lining up to help him.

This goes right to the top.

Has he got Netflix ?? Poor soul ????????????

Wifey says you can buy all sorts of luxuries in jail (she's not been jailed, but knows everything).

He will certainly not be eating prison food she claims.

Yes, the story must be kept alive this time, because bangkok is on the edge of anarchy soon, even Thais have had it up to here with their own entitled brass knobs this week.

In reality, he'll quietly walk after 18 months, if that, and will have to bring his own shopping bags (no plastic) to Rimping Louis Vuitton, shortly thereafter, he'll be made DPM in the ever-grinning flour-exporters fresh new anti-corruption cabinet.

Little ex-Chief Chicken-Wing does not look like he gets by on food, I'd suggest he has already developed a taste for the old Ya Ice he fearlessly saves the kiddies from, by the look of his ladyboy bod. But not to worry, even that is available in jail, world-wide!

He watches Narcos -as a police training film.

No.

Joe is walking on thin ice and time will tell if he will make it to the other side.

There were a shakeout within the ranks of the police force right after the coup. Remember the police officer that was seeking political asylum in Australia?

Others were arrested and some died of blood infection while detained.

Shame if he dies of Covid in quarantine -the cover our asses variant- before any incriminating trial can take place.

I'd be taking bets he'll be Epstienized, but I don't want to be arrested for online gambling, then suffocated for my overly-seasoned retirement fortune.

They'll make a big show of auctioning his stuff too, and when the cameras have gone, the loot will just be divvied up, unpaid for anyway, to all the coverup guys who are working triple time on it right now.

This place, when I'm not spraying coffee, often makes me have to choke back down my breakfast -at least twice.

As a spectacularly corrupt franchisee, put him in the general prison population, so he can get to know some of the guys. A fun experiment.

Does this Narong actually think any of us believe this top cop is not getting special treatment? Of course he is. This entire thing is a charade. He will not be convicted, and even if he is, he will never serve time.

The most important thing to remember, is that Prayuth has a mandate, to protect all corrupt police, immigration, customs, administration, provincial and local government officials. Period. Nothing has changed. If anything he drained the swamp of 7 foot alligators, and replaced them with 14 foot crocodiles.
