Should Pattaya Embrace Segregation?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Being a Aussie expat I sometimes keep a eye on the old country, more so in the last 12 months with virus happenings and family back there.

Aus is now a country where you must ask govt if you can come and go, and that generally includes crossing states.

Now they talk about vaccinated and not vaccinated rules.

I would have thought this European idea was dead in the water?

Errrrrrr....segregation does not work. Only leads to old car tyres being set on fire.

Australia!! Making Thailand look good.....sheesh....

* Do we need "rules" in Pattaya and who would enforce them? (small brown envelope on my coffee table.)

Like every decison that's been made during this pandemic, we won't have a say in it, so probably best to just go accept that it is what it is and go with the flow.

I'd agree that Australia's Covid response has been hysterical. Being just a casual observer of that country, I find it baffling. By and large, I'm happy with how Thailand has handled things, the obvious exception being the vaccination campaign.

At this stage those who are unvaxed have mostly chosen to be. IMO that makes them a threat to themselves and everyone else. (I’m obviously not referring to countries with little access to vaccines)

Both countries stuffed up their vaccine supply, BUT adjusted for the population difference the cases and deaths situation in Australia is much better. Do the maths. And end of October THIS year Aus expects 70% of its population to be fully vaxed (2 shots) and with quality vaccine.

If you choose not to get vaccinated then theres got to be consequences.

I don't want unvaccinated people near my family, sitting next on a plane or restaurant, having a drink at my local bar.

Mandates coming into force eventually everywhere in the world will hopefully force hairbrained anti-vaxers into a state of reality.

Unfortunately Thailand has so few vaccine options to even get vaccinated even if they wanted to.

You do know that vaccinated people can spread the virus just as easily.

There's is evidence of that unfortunately.

"It cites a combination of recently obtained, still-unpublished data from outbreak investigations and outside studies showing that vaccinated individuals infected with delta may be able to transmit the virus as easily as those who are unvaccinated."

I think it's important to get vaccinated to avoid overcrowding hospitals and death.

But they are likely to be shedding virus for less time than unvaccinated people.

Of course people who are not vaccinated should have less rights to certain events then those who are vaccinated. They do that in most countries because it makes sense. Its just the anti vaxers that hate it as they don't want there to be consequences to not being vaccinated.

So YES segregate but only when people had a chance to get vaccines. In the Netherlands there is a big group that does not want to be vaccinated. Too bad I say but that same group does want to go to sports events and stuff. Now one can say that its their life their risk but they by getting sick (unnecessary) and taking up valuable hospital resources.

Maybe anti vaxers should just pay for their medical treatment and for those they infected. Teaches them that every choice has advantages and disadvantages.

Vaccinated people still spread the virus so any form of segregation doesn't work. Vaccination just protects the vaccinated!. However in an unvaccinated population segregation does work as it reduces infection rate.

Not true! Vaccinated and unvaccinated spread the virus at the same rate

What's the problem?  If people are vaccinated they are safe from unvaccinated people who might have the virus. So why the need for segregation?

In fact it's the vaccinated people that are the danger to the unvaccinated ones as they still can get covid and still shed and spread the virus. Maybe they should be the ones not allowed into sports events and restaurants?

Are you one is those that thinks you can't get covid if your are vaccinated? Well, you can..just as likely as an unvaccinated person. And you can also be a mutation virus hub...just you are less likely to develop severe symptoms.

So, I would not let a vaccinated person near my u vaccinated and covid free family!

I read something that contradicted that although would struggle to find it again.

Here is one example..

You still dont get it or don't want to get it (probably the latter)

Unvaccinated people in crowded spaces can lead to outbreaks and putting strain on the health system by their stupid actions.

Vaccinated people are less likely to catch it and have their share for the greater good and put less strain on health system.

So as long as unvaccinated have a higher chance of infecting others (especially other not vaccinated) resulting in overflowing hospitals limiting care for many other people they should not be allowed the same rights as vaccinated people.

This goes beyond being scared of covid its about social responsibility and if you really don't want to vaccinate accept that there are things you can't do.

BUT im talking from a perspective where everyone can get a vaccine. Now there are a lot non vaccinated who would love to get vaccinated. So then its a bit unfear people who are unlike anti vaxers willing to vaccinate for their own good and the greater good while selfish antivaxers want the same right.

Totally agree with you.. Can’t help wondering why when faced with facts people use laughing or confused emojis.
