Former Deputy Attorney-General Nate Naksuk has been faulted for a mild disciplinary violation for his “honest decision” not to indict Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya over the controversial hit-and-run incident back in 2012, in which a police officer was killed.

 

The five-member probe panel, set up a year ago to consider disciplinary action against Mr. Nate over his handling of the controversial case, reportedly found him guilty of faulty performance of his duty and recommended that he be deprived of pension and promotions for two years and should not be appointed as a senior prosecutor.

 

However, the panel’s ruling is not final and has to be submitted to the Prosecution Commission for consideration and debate.

Lucky that he didn´t do something that would be considered a big fault.

One of the biggest scandals in Thailand in recent years, and all they can recommend is delaying his pension and promotion for two years !

I know the ruling is "not final", but hard to see the Prosecution Commission over ruling it.

And all this took a year !

Shows the true face of the corrupt Thai judicial system !

Anything but deal with the Elephant in the room, the actual offender

So why did this man do that?

Most Thais in public office dream of getting a huge, life-changing bribe.  It is the reason that many people have for working in a police or government post.  To ask them to prosecute someone for that very thing must feel wrong.  For many bribes (extortion) is their main source of income. 

 

I know an immigration officer in Buriram who extorts everyone.  He only got 2000 from me but a very wealthy friend of mine got stung for 15,000.  The officer determines the size of the bung from your bank statement, which he always examines at the start of the application.  Doesn't matter if your application is perfectly sound.

 

I have decided not to get upset by these stories of corruption and just laugh them off.  I don't want to have any dealings with the police or government here because I am afraid they will extort me.  It is definitely a downside of life in Thailand but I still prefer living here more than the UK.

Pretty sure he has already secured his retirement funds so this will amount to nought for him. A sad reality for those of us who have to play by these rules

Lol The guys brown envelope was probably more than his whole pension so two years suspension of pension no big deal for him it’s amazing it only took a few years to start this process of who did what when where But still a kid is free if you more years will be back in Thailand no problem T I T

And the decision is not binding, so he will appeal and then it will just go back to what it was before.

It was an honest decision!!!

They no longer in this country hide behind a facade of attempting to cover up the blatant corruption.

So why don't u get evidence and have him prosecuted? It is the "do nothings" that perpetuates corruption. Either that or stop whining.

appoint him as a senator instead, it would strengthen the justice system and reinforce Thailand's global image. 

Naksuk is the equivalent of a Mafia Wiseguy (aka Made man). In Thai parlance he would be "Good Person" - a soldier of the Elitist.

Sounds more like boasting that he 'only' got scammed for 2k- easy to record any bribe demands on a phone without them knowing

So will this lead to an additional  charge of bribery.

Well by the time matter goes through appeal, and documents are filed in the shredder, then another enquiry into lost documents, his pension continues to build, as no final determination, so penalty suspended (my guess, natural justice) , his financials shipped offshore untouchable, situation normal.

The selection of those hearing the appeal will take at least 12 months.

 

It does seem that every man and his dog is getting investigated, blamed and possibly locked up over this case.

 

Except of course, well we all know who.

Locked up, doubt that, they would need to find the envelopes for that, and bet none of the contents are held onshore except in property, in the name of a "trust"
