International travel is not a fundamental liberty for Americans

Why would the USA care who travels where?  The embassies overseas do nothing to help them.  The Americans pay taxes that fund the state department and other department's activities.  Americans have to pay for the passports.  As long as no court has ruled them a flight risk, or there are some other reasons such as tax liens, or lately some other issues (which should be up to a court rule), then give them a passport.  We are decades past the notion that traveling citizens are ambassadors of their country.

 

  A somewhat realted situation is Australia prohibiting or severely limiting people from traveling outside of Oz during the COVID situation.  Why should Australia limit outbound travel of their citizens?  If the traveler meets all the requirements of the place they are going to, then so be it.  Off they should be able to go
