RutNL
Will need to do the extension on/before October 31st. Always done it in Bangkok/CW. The paperwork & financials & photos, etc is all in order and/or available. But.... my wife will be upcountry for another 2 months. Does she need to come back to Bangkok for the extension of stay? Can I do the extension somewhere upcountry when being registered in Bangkok? In Bangkok/CW, can one currently apply 45 days ahead of expiry-date? Any other options/suggestions? Like a 60day-Covid extension? Or.... Thanks.....
ubonjoe
She will have to be with you when you apply for the extension of stay. You would have to change your address to a new residence at another office if you wanted to apply at it. And then have to go to that office to get your extension stamp at the end of the under consideration period. You can apply to 45 day early to the last day of your extension at CW. A covid 19 60 day extension would be possible if the extend the order for them beyond the 27th of this month. Best to work out a way for your wife to return to Bangkok to do the extension application with you.
OneeyedJohn
May I ask why the wife has to be with you, is it purely to sign all the copies, apart from that I see no reason.

It is a requirement for her to be with you to help confirm this line in the immigration order. "(3) In the case of spouse, the relationship must be de jure and de facto" She also has to sign a statement that she completes in front of a immigration officer.

Thanks, Ubonjoe, I kind of could have guessed your answer, but of course thanks for confirming/clarifying so quickly.....
OneeyedJohn
So, if u had the choice Joe, would u have a marriage or retirement extension. I am so bored with having money in the bank and nothing to do with it, I have just spent £80 on two kitchen implements, a salt and spice shaker set, and a hasselback potato slicer. I recently applied for my 14th extension of stay based upon marriage. There is no way I would change to retirement unless I had to. I use the 40k baht income option. No need to keep any money in the bank.
Lite Beer
I would also stay with Marriage Extension. Why not? Simple to comply with and fits the reason I am applying.

Although my situation has improved since then, I would not go back to retirement. I have always found the immigration staff friendly and helpful, even in the early days when I kept making cock ups with the paperwork.
