webfact
File photo: REUTERS/Athit Perawongmetha Thailand on Wednesday (September 22) reported 11,252 new COVID-19 cases, 13,695 recoveries and 141 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. ◼︎ 13,695 recoveries ◼︎ 11,224 new infections ◼︎ 28 prison / prison infections ▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 1,482,494 ▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,339,107 Wednesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,511,357 with 15,753 deaths. The news comes as there has yet to be a decision on whether to extend Thailand’s nationwide State of Emergency, set to expire on September 30th, or whether the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will remain, Deputy Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek told Thai PBS World on Tuesday. Dr. Rachada’s confirmation followed a Government House press conference earlier Tuesday about amendments approved by the cabinet to the Communicable Diseases Act, which have led some local media to report that the frequently extended State of Emergency, in place since March 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19, will end on September 30th. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-09-22 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

Popular Post anchadian
Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam are leaving their zero-Covid policies behind, but they aren't ready to open up, experts warn Now, governments including Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam are looking to revive their economies -- particularly the vital tourism industry -- by reopening borders and public spaces. But experts worry that low vaccination rates in much of the region, and the widespread use of lower-efficacy vaccines including China's Sinovac, could lead to a catastrophe. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/09/21/asia/covid-zero-asia-vietnam-thailand-malaysia-intl-hnk/index.html 2

Popular Post Bkk Brian
New COVID Cases Won’t Drop Further BANGKOK, Sept 22 (TNA) – The number of new daily COVID-19 cases will not fall further for the time being because of the resumption of business and activities, according to Dr. Kiatiphum Wongrajit, permanent secretary for public health. New cases were likely to remain at about 10,000 a day and would not drop further because some disease control measures were lifted to support economy and workers, he said. People must continue to seriously protect themselves from COVID-19 and co-exist with the disease, Dr. Kiatiphum said. https://tna.mcot.net/english-news-785457 3 1

One has to wonder if they are not doing an ATK dump once a week and loading up the system with those numbers as in yesterdays number of ATK cases. Prison numbers seem to have dropped tremendously over the past week as well. IS this good news for the prison system, well I can only hope so. As far as the daily testing via PCR nationwide we know that that is not being done on a ramped up basis as it might show higher numbers then they want and then they only want to count those needing treatment in my view. Is that prudent, well in any other year with stats for another virus they only list those that are in the hospital and not those at home. Maybe it is there way of trying to regain some sense of normalcy. Just my view. Saw that the vaccinations of school aged children has been shut down by the doctors as it had not been FDA approved, yet this government went ahead and started the program already. Boosters elsewhere are being reviewed to see if they are also prudent and have been on hold as well, while Thailand still is is giving booster shots ahead of vaccinating those that have not been jabbed once. On the Phuket Sand Box saga, looks like they have dispatched 9 teams to Phuket to start testing en-mass. Now will that be done via PCR tests or the ATK Kits and if so who are they actually testing? Questions beget more questions. Of course this is my view, but It is something I would like to know more about. Wonder what happened to the plan in vaccinating with AZ first and then Pfizer second, as I saw yesterday that Starting October 1 Thailand will be vaccinating with Sinovac as the first jab and then AZ. Everyday another twist and turn, just like with the Opening up here in Bangkok due to Covid cases being one of three points that must be rectified before they say they can open. As always stay safe and protect yourself and families. 6

I thought when we first entered this pandemic and the vaccines arrived that they were to be sold at cost. Governments were thought to be subsidizing the costs but apparently not. Yet here in this article from awhile back: https://ihsmarkit.com/research-analysis/pandemic-pricing-dilemma-covid19-vaccine.html Pricing at-cost vs for profit Pfizer stands out among other leading vaccine developers as the company has opted not to take government funding to help mitigate some of the risks associated with vaccine R&D and at-risk manufacturing. Other OWP candidates include those being developed by Moderna (US), AstraZeneca (UK), Johnson & Johnson (J&J, US), and Novavax (US) have benefited from notable BARDA investments worth more than USD3.7 billion combined for R&D and manufacturing activities. DaveSamutP
Just now, Danderman123 said: I dunno about large numbers of vaccinated tourists getting sick. The numbers for the Sandbox are pretty small. Yeah, I guess we'll see. Maybe the sandbox is having a genuine protective effect. In most countries where vaccination rates are high and they've opened up a bit, large numbers of people continue to get sick. And, these are countries where the majority of vaccinations have been quality ones (not the Chinese stuff). If they remove restrictions nationally and allow large numbers of tourists to come, I have a feeling the number of vaccinated tourists that get sick will be very high. I will add that there could very well be other mutation strains in Thailand that are unreported. We recall the single time Thailand upload a variant to the global database, there was a lot of pushback as they didn't want any variants associated with Thailand. Then, there is Mu and Lamda. You only have to look at this forum for evidence of it. Covid cases aren't going anywhere in Thailand. Thailand has gone from proactive track and trace to who gives a monkeys. Usual response from a country with a two minute attention span. Meanwhile, complete chaos reigns regarding borders reopening or anything reopening.
