Thai and US officials to meet in Washington DC to resolve delay over Pfizer vaccine being donated to Thailand

Officials of the Thai embassy in Washington DC will meet with their American counterparts this week to facilitate the delivery of an additional million doses of Pfizer mRNA vaccine, being donated to Thailand by the United States, according to Thai Ambassador to the US, H.E. Mr. Manasvee Srisodaphol.

The ambassador said he called Thai-born Democrat US Senator Tammy Duckworth to enquire about the vaccine, but was told that its documentation had already been sent to the Thai side and was asked to find out why the Thai authorities were unaware of it.

The ambassador said he had checked with all Thai officials and they responded that they had not received any formal notification from the US about the donated vaccine. He said, however, that he received good news from the US on Saturday, about a meeting with US officials this week to discuss the issue.

OK so a MILLION IMPORTANT vaccines and they are mucking about and blaming each other for paperwork,  Geez what's wrong with these people, Get on the phone, and stand by the email or fax machine. Even

  • No reason to hurry. There are no brown envelopes that come with free products.

  • I see, now Thailand is saying they never got the paperwork ... or at least no official will dare admit having received (and ignored) it ... under risk of being sent to an inactive post no doubt.

End of July over 1.5 million doses of Pfizer arrived from the US as part of its continued donations, did that take over a month also to complete the paperwork?

Like to be a fly on the wall at that meeting, considering both sides are saying the other half is the problem causing the delay.

I have formed the opinion having lived in Thailand for many years, that not responding taking action immediately etc must be a cultural issue with Thai people compared with what occurs in most Western countries.

I have experienced it with my wife and her family who are all degree educated so it’s not lack of intelligence.

They seem indecisive and

“ we will do it tomorrow”

I have ordered items for an old friend in the UK and they are received within one day here it’s a week.

So it seems to me it’s a Thai thing, it’s not going to change and as they say in the UK

“ Like it or lump it”

Yes, it did.

The 1 mm Pfizer donation to Malaysia was announced on the same Friday as the 1.5 mm donation to thailand. Vaccines were delivered to Malaysia the following Monday, and to Thailand some 30 days later. Rumblings at the time were that thailand was "negotiating".

Donations from Bhutan, Singapore, China and Japan seem to go much more quickly. Singapore just donated 122,400 doses of AstraZeneca.

No clue what's up? A lack of priority? Or maybe the regime wants to delay any (more) mRNA vaccines until the first of THEIR 20 mm Pfizer doses arrive. And this is why the Moderna private purchases have been "delayed". The emphasis on appearance - never enough lipstick for the pig - should never be overlooked when analyzing the machinations of this regime. Or it could just be incompetence.

No, who do we  believe more, and I think we  both know that answer.

Tammy said  this a  while  ago

Tammy said she had originally asked for the same amount for Indonesia and since there was no delay on documentation with them, Indonesia has now received more than eight million doses.

There's "juice" in the Chinese deal. When orders are placed, someone can skim from them, someone can get kickbacks. An integral part of this culture.

With a straight donation there are none of such things. It's really a foreign concept to them. "What do you mean, you want to give us this stuff? For the benefit of my people? But...what's in it for me?"

So they can form a committee if normal process is followed.

Well, you cannot make money on donated jabs, can you?

You would think something important like this they could waiver the required paperwork as it’s free . But nope , some little bureaucrat wants their bit of paper as they think they are important ! ????

The never ending story

Why the delay? They want to use all the Chines ones up first!!!

Did anyone else notice this sly bit of vaccine diplomacy by the US embassy?

“As previously announced in July, the US will donate an additional one million doses of safe and effective vaccines to Thailand''.

Why do you need donations from other countries if you will have 125 million doses? Plan to make money on the donations?

Post meeting = Ohhhhhhh ...  it was a Misunderstanding
