Paradise it was not; it was an eyesore. I guess you've never heard of Big Yellow Taxi?

T21 was and is a big plus, and has served as a catalyst for new, nice development in that area, which is still continuing. Another one that's not heard of Big Yellow Taxi. Both it and T21 were doing ok, pre-covid, without your patronage. I moved to Pattaya in 1994 so it is 'new' to me as I still remember the original Central Festival.

Most of us here are of a 'certain age' and, of course, we know it. As others have said, T21 was not paving paradise. The concrete eyesore T21 replaced was likely the original culprit that did the 'paving'.
Popular Post coastguard
There will be a free shuttle from the parking garage to the beach. Not sure how that benefits T21. Maybe a good tip for ex-pats wanting to do the beach and not being able to park anywhere. I might consider doing that, as opposed to parking at Central Festival mall.

Perhaps T21 believe that people will shop and/or eat in the mall before going to the beach or; more likely; before going home. Like all other malls they regularly hold events to tempt people in.

Yes, those 60+ yo's with their 20+ Thai wives/GFs feeding them and wiping their faces and generally doting over them look so miserable. What a horrible way to spend your golden years. ???? Odd that. I suppose its better than sitting at a bar all day drinking alcohol and looking miserable. You must come from a country with shopping malls, i come from Holland where there are hardly any malls, let alone coffee shops in malls that are nice to sit in. So moving here gave me : Malls ! And plenty of them Terminal 21, Central festival, Central marina, Tropical garden paradise, Avenue and some completely useless ones like Mike's and Harbour Coffee shops inside malls ! From 19 Baht for a fantastic drink in Marina to Starbucks where you need a monthly salary for a drink Girls in malls !, not that fat, grumpy, unhappy old lot, but youngish, happy, smiley cute ladies. Some only in a t-shirt without anything else Market prices in some places, bought a long trouser and a top for my girl yesterday for 400 baht total in 21 Thai tea, coffees with weird extra's and toilets with 14 options to heat your bum and.... bumguns ! Totally different experience from shopping around in the Netherlands with dreary weather, impossible parking, crazy prices and a waitress that would rather kill you than serve the 239 baht coffee. *For those with interpretation problems : I mean this in a funny way, there are other reasons to be in thailand than just the malls, but they sure help.
morrobay
There is more to an open sky window than the view. There is the nice reflected light from objects inside. Photo feng shui. Compared to the inside of a cardboard box.
sucher
Looking at it today. Hmm. Maybe they create a new Restaurant Area on top of the new Parking. Connected with a Skybridge . The View from there would be amazing .
