webfact
Picture: Manager The tourism authorities and local administration in Chiang Mai are ready to get tourists back again. Rathaphon Naradisorn - deputy governor - said everything was in place from hotels to tourist sites - and the weather was even turning cool. The Chiang Mai Tourism Business Association came up with a slogan for the auspicious occasion. It is "Open Chiang Mai to the Next Pages". They seem to be trying to match the TAT for verbosity after their rather less than catchy: "Now even more amazing Thailand has it all". The target for October is Thais and expats living in the country who have been vaccinated, had Covid or have had ATK tests. People from non-red zone provinces can just upload the CM Chana app. Foreign tourists are not expected until next month but Manager reported the comments of several key players in the industry that October domestic reopening of the northern city was a key moment. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-10-02 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
scorecard
Right now can foreigners living in Thailand with double vaccination fly without special permits etc., and with no quarantine from Bangkok to Chiang Mai?
Popular Post brommers
Utter borrocks! The slogan makes no sense, nor does the strategy. Thai people are drowning in debt and the small number who travel will visit family to save on costs. This will do b*gger all for hotels, restaurants etc. And with bars and entertainment venues still closed there is no joy in visiting CM.

Stargeezr
Well, if you visit Chiang Mai now, you can see it over half closed or more, just like most of the places in Thailand. Sort of a morbid look at a vacant Hollywood set. businesses with their windows boarded up, the new normal for now. When I see the pictures that some local expats have provided here on the forum, it is still shocking to see all the businesses closed, or simply gone for good. I doubt that Thailand will see a different look for at least the next few years since this pandemic has affected the whole world. Geezer
