Slow start to Phuket reopening

PHUKET: The reopening of Phuket to allow domestic visitors onto the island got off to a slow start yesterday (Oct 1), with no surge in the number of vehicles and people wanting to come onto the island.

 

Officers manning the Phuket Check Point at Tha Chatchai have yet to report any people being refused entry to the province under the new conditions, which allow any domestic visitors who have been fully vaccinated and have tested negative for COVID-19 within seven days before arriving.

 

Only a handful of people presented themselves to be tested by antigen test kit (ATK), which is allowed for Phuket residents only under the new screening measures, which came into effect yesterday. It was not reported if any of the few entering the province yesterday tested positive.

And that will be exactly the same response from foreign tourists to Thailand under this regime and nutcase demands.

 I live in Thailand and used to spend every year 2 months with the GF and daughter in Phuket.

Spend all my money in the local economy and when we go to the bar I give the ladies some LD.

This year however,if they don’t change the rules ie no alcohol,PCR test on entry….I will go spend my

money somewhere else.I’m due to get my 2nd AZ shot next month and normally would then go to Phuket,as usual, for 2 months but not this year if nothing changes

Can someone explain the reason why on Phuket residents can to the rioid test ? I am missing the logic...

Might be the bad press.

 

Also a raging pandemic on an island with very little too do is a major drawback.

 

Beautiful beaches though if you enjoy solitude.

Maybe the Thai local tourists remember how they were treated as second class citizens when the Phuket mafia started to dream about (fleecing) international tourists in their litterbox. Oh dear how this will come home to roost!

Everybody's just come off the beach after a hot day, heading for a restaurant and a few beers.    Unless you're not on Phuket of course.......
